S2:E5 When Rushing God's Plan Makes a Mess Faith For Her with Katie Nguyen

    • Christianity

I’m always saddened that Sarah is often reduced to the one who laughed at God’s promise to give her child at the age of 90. We all falter in our faith from time to time. Thirty years is a long time to wait for a promise, and Sarah did not always wait gracefully. But do we?

What does waiting look like for you? Do you try to rush God’s plan by helping it along? Do you get angry? Do you numb or distract yourself? Do you get depressed?

It is in Genesis 11 that we meet Sarai, later Sarah, but it is not until chapter 21 that we see God’s promise fulfilled in her life. These ten chapters span 30 years. Have you ever had to wait 30 years for a promise from God? How about 30 days? How about 30 minutes? No matter how long the wait, we grow impatient. What we do with this impatience can make our lives more difficult or lead us closer to God. Today we will look at the story of Sarah with a sideline into the story of Lot’s wife. Ever wonder why her story was put as a commercial break in the story of Abraham and Sarah’s promise? Today I’ll share why.
