In this episode, we delve into the topic of power and its resonance within the realm of safety management. The discussion emerges from conversations with fellow safety managers, highlighting the pivotal question of the power that safety managers possess and the ability of safety managers to influence and enact change.
We'll introduce the six distinct levels representing different aspects of power and how to attain it. The bottom three levels—Legitimate, Reward, and Coercive Power—are tied to organizational structure and are typically available to individuals in higher leadership roles.  However, the safety managers might find themselves lacking access to these three tools despite their titles. 

The discussion then moves to the next two levels—Expertise and Charisma. You'll be encouraged to continue learning and expanding your understanding of safety management principles to exude confidence and drive change effectively.
