    0031 Up Against the Wall

    0031 Up Against the Wall

The content for this episode is taken from last Sunday service where Dr Hillard share some insight about the woman of Zarephath and the profit Elijah in first Kings chapter 17. This unnamed woman was preparing her last meal for her and a son when the prophet Elijah approached her and asked her to make him a cake. Even though she was in the midst of a famine and didn't know much about this prophet, yet she trusted in the word of the Lord and was able to receive enough food to outlast the famine. As we commemorate women's month this is a great example of someone who had many obstacles as a widow woman, yet she continued to trust the Lord in spite of those obstacles. If you are single separated divorced or a widow the example of this godly woman will encourage you to continue to persevere and trust the Lord even when you're not sure where your next meal is coming from.

00030 How Do You Move from Bitterness to Breakthrough?

00030 How Do You Move from Bitterness to Breakthrough?

Doctor Hilliard continues his series “Moving Forward” as he looks at Exodus chapter 15. After the children of Israel had experienced an unbelievable Deliverance by seeing Pharaoh and his army drowned in the Red Sea. They celebrated by worship and praising God for all the things he had done. they then found themselves at a place where the water was bitter and many of them started complaining. In the same way we can become bitter as we think about the challenges, we've experienced from covid-19, working from home, adjusting to kids school schedule as well as using things like Facebook zoom and other platforms to connect with friends family and colleagues Its easy to become very bitter over the many changes. But Dr Hilliard encourages us to remain faithful because a breakthrough is on its way.

    0029 It's time to dance

    0029 It's time to dance

In this episode we play a message from Dr Hilliard that he preached last Sunday at the cathedral. Entitled “it’s Time to Dance”. Dr Hilliard shares what it must have felt like for the children of Israel after being in bondage for more than 400 years under Pharaoh a hard taskmaster and now to be free to worship the Lord without restrictions. Being overcome with such excitement and joy Miriam the sister of Moses took out a tambourine and begin to worship and dance before the Lord, along with all the women in Israel. Dr Hilliard compares that moment in history to what we in America experienced a few days ago. After President Joe Biden and vice president Kamala Harris were sworn into office. At that moment many Americans were dancing in the streets the fact that we now have a black female vice president, and a new administration is a time to rejoice and give praise and glory to God because of the many possibilities that await the black church and the rest of America.

    0027 Moving Forward

With all the various challenges to be faced in 2020 from covid-19, to the many deaths. Many persons losing jobs and their businesses, and the various protests and riots that were seeing in our streets. It's very difficult to figure out what God is doing IN the same way the children of Israel faced a similar challenge when they were being pursued by pharaoh and his army. It almost seemed overwhelming especially knowing that the red Sea was in front of them. But Dr Hilliard encourages us to respond in the same way that Moses encouraged the congregation that followed him which is to move forward and trust that God is in control.

0026 Understanding what God is doing in times of grief

0026 Understanding what God is doing in times of grief

In this episode Dr Hilliard shares, some of the challenges his church has faced in the last two weeks. Recently his congregation had to deal with the death of two of their members’ one in particular was pastor Calvin Evans the son of Minister Geneva Evans who was one of the guests in a previous podcast. And also, Brian Barrett who was 38 years old. And contracted a mysterious virus not COVID-19. Both of these men were great examples and assisted in many aspects of the ministry at cathedral. During these seasons it's difficult to understand what the Lord is doing, but his grace is sufficient. We would like to encourage you to please remember these families in your prayer as you go before the Lord.
