Scene on Radio

Scene on Radio is a two-time Peabody-nominated podcast that dares to ask big, hard questions about who we are—really—and how we got this way. Our latest is Season 7, Scene on Radio: Capitalism. Previous series include Seeing White (Season 2), looking at the roots and meaning of white supremacy; MEN (Season 3), on patriarchy and its history; The Land That Never Has Been Yet (Season 4), exploring democracy in the U.S. and why we don’t have more of it; The Repair (Season 5), on the cultural roots of the climate crisis; and Season 6, Echoes of a Coup, the story of the only successful coup d'etat in U.S. history, in Wilmington, North Carolina, in 1898. Produced and hosted by John Biewen, with collaborators, Scene on Radio comes from the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University. The show is distributed by PRX.

Engaging, smart, and timely

I started with Season 7 Capitalism, and I was absolutely hooked. This is one of the best podcasts out there, packed with information, but also so intelligently organized and thoughtfully delivered. I am listening for the second time all the way through. If you felt like something was missing in your formative education on all things related to the United States, you are absolutely correct. Let Scene on Radio fill in the gaps. These critiques are more relevant than ever, but knowledge is power. You need this knowledge.

Give this podcast a try if you’re depressed, unfulfilled, stuck in a dead end job with a terrible boss and just need someone to confirm the suspicion you have that it’s everyone else’s fault but your own.
Amazing podcast

This is perhaps the best podcast I have ever listened to. Started with season 7 Capitalism and it blew me away. Rich with insights and information that you don’t typically get. Powerful reporting. Even the music and composition of the show itself is very well done and adds to the impact and experience. I’m now working my way through the other seasons and am equally impressed. So well done.
