Thinking of Adding Ads To Your Podcast - Listen to This First
I was listening to an episode of the Media Roundtable where people who work in the advertising space answered if they listened to ads. I know I am not a fan of bad ads, but I wondered what my audience thought. If you're considering putting advertisements into your podcast, you want to hear what NOT to do.

Unleash the Power of LinkedIn for Your Podcast: Insider Tips from a LinkedIn Pro
One of the benefits of podcasting is your get to talk to experts. For me, LinkedIn is my weakest social platform. I know I should do more, but I don't. Well, 2024 is right around the corner, and LinkedIn is on the radio, so I brought on Daniel Alfon (who has been on Linkedin since 2004, has written a book on LinkedIn, offers courses, coaching, etc, and generally knows this stuff when it comes to LinkedIn and he answers all my questions.

Don't Get Bitten: Identifying Predatory Practices in Podcasting
Today I talk about some practices I've seen and heard about that may be designed to prey on the uninformed and/or be designed to serve the podcaster and not their audience. I also comment on a great article from Tom Webster, which ties in nicely with a documentary called "Worst to First" which shows how Z100 in New York City described their show in a way that positioned themselves as an authority.

What Makes This Great? Behind the Scenes With David Hooper
David Hooper published an episode where he gives the "behind the scenes" view of his interview with Dolly Parton on his Build a Big Podcastt show.
I've known Dave for years and respect his insights and snarkiness, and when I heard this episode, I felt compelled to tell everyone about it. That triggered me. Why exactly was I sharing this? Today I brought Dave on as I dissected his episode and got his comments.

What I Liked About This Episode
Dave would increase the pressure by talking about the stakes of the situation. There was also a lot of "I wonder what happens next," which is always great.
At one point, he launched into a story that somewhat relieved the pressure and helped establish Dave's street credibility (he has interviewed a TON of people on his Music Business Radio show).
You will also hear Dave be vulnerable as he shares his thoughts on the interview with Dolly. Ultimately, you can't wait to hear how the interview goes. Did it happen? Was it good? Did Dave cry? Did he blow it? You can hear the uninterrupted full version of the episode at https://podcast.bigpodcast.com/audio/9113/571115

How to Build a Podcast that Drives Leads and Credibility
While there are no rules for podcasting, there are best practices, and today I'm talking with Courtney Elmer, who helps people get into the top 100 of the Apple Charts. We also discuss how podcasting can give you back your voice and help you be heard.
An entrepreneur can boost sales when their podcast is
On a regular schedule (it helps you be seen as reliable).
Makes points through personal stories (it helps them to know you, while not going on a complete tangent).
Good. Most people do not listen to shows that need help. Seeing you as reliable, personable, and helpful makes it easy to boost sales.

Customer Reviews
Podpage
Your recent episode on Podpage Elite got me to upgrade from Pro. Worked with the SEO feature last night and corrected all my shows. Most had 4 or 5 warnings and 3 or so fails. Now, they’re all perfect. Definitely worth a 5 star review and a follow. Thanks!!
Valid info, reliable source, slight bits of cringe
Growing up in California during the heyday of glam rock, trash metal and west coast rap there were these certain types of folks who put on seminars to “teach” aspiring musicians how to “make it in the music business.” The focus was getting signed to a record label and becoming a famous rockstar — “monetizing” your band.
Dave Jackson reminds me of one of those guys now doing the same thing with podcasters and the School of Podcasting. Lots of killer information if you want to follow the crowd of podcasters who came before you. I listen to it for what NOT to do next.
There is one bit of cringe in the beginning that is so 🤮 it tinges the rest of my impression of Dave for the rest of each episode. Mind you, I DO listen to each episode. It’s well-produced. Great sound. Tight editing. But … in the beginning. When Dave says “Hit it, ladies!” … I just can’t. He couldn’t have just said “Hit it!?” This is so much like Mitt Romney’s “Binders full of women” it’s hilarious. Like, Dave has a harem of backup singers he allows to sing for him once a week, then back in the box?
Still, five stars because I’m not a complete animal.
Literally a school of podcasting!
Have a podcast? Want to be great at it? You MUST listen to this podcast! I listen over and over again. He gives so much value and concrete guidance, and I cannot wait until I can give back for all he helps me / us with. Thanks Dave!!
