School PR Drive Time Episode 013 — Dr. John Marshall, Renee Murphy — Racial Equity JCPS, KY
Welcome to another episode of School PR Drive Time from NCSPRA, driving the narrative forward for public education in North Carolina Public Schools through the work of #SchoolPR professionals! This week, we learn from the team of Dr. John Marshall (Chief Equity Officer) and Renee Murphy (Chief Communications Officer) driving equity policy and communications forward for Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, KY, with host Kevin Smith from the NCSPRA board of directors. Individually and as a team, Marshall and Murphy leverage the highest level of experience and professionalism in the pursuit of academic excellence and racial equity, a complex set of challenges that is no longer optional for any school or school system to address head on—from the boardroom to the classroom. From the REAP model (Racial Equity Analysis Protocol) to holistic storytelling practices, the Equity and Communications offices at JCPS demonstrate a total commitment to racial equity and a constructive school culture in everything from student-teacher interactions to full-scale social upheaval.
