Screwed Up Comics is a podcast that will be for both veteran and beginner comic fans. If your comic knowledge is encyclopedic or if you’re just curious about comics - this show is for you!
Episode archetypes will be: topical discussions, creator spotlights, book club/reviews, recommendations, and the occasional very off topic episode that could cover movies, sports, politics, or anything else in between.

Episode 15 - Screwed Up Comparison: The Flash vs. Daredevil
SUC is back after having read Mark Waid’s The Flash run, and the comparison I’ve (strangely) made to Daredevil. I talk about the role Daredevil and The Flash play in the Marvel and DC universes, respectively. Some good ass comics talk in this quickie of an episode!

Episode 14 - Screwed UpDate - It’s Good to be Back
Remember this thing? I’m back - and I’m here to stay. I’ve been gone almost a year in an attempt to get my life together. At this point I am alive and wanna keep it that way. This episode is about where I’ve been, where I’m at, and how comics and action figures helped get me through the past year.

Episode #13 - Screwed Up Creator Spotlight - Warren Ellis
Gang hello - Back with an episode GLORIOUSLY FANBOYING for my favorite comic book writer - Warren Ellis.
I discuss items such as:
My favorite concepts made staples by Ellis - everything from his obsession with physics to the way his stories are structured;
Give a few examples of my favorite works of his; and
How his blacklisting is total b******t
These are discussed by, in part, drawing several credible comparisons that are perfectly acceptable social behavior for certain individuals, but when that occurs in this bubble of comic fandom? These things are interpreted differently, and vastly incorrectly, and I clear these hypocrisies up.
Lots of this was sort of hitting during the day, and then got riffed on real quick - so let me know if you feel anything was left out! #FreeWarrenEllis
As always, a 5 star review is very helpful and appreciated!! Till next time! -
Episode #12 - Screwed Up Comic Review - Monsters, by Barry Windsor-Smith
Hey everyone - been a LONG time! In this episode, I catch up briefly on where I've been for the past few months, what's going on now, and the things I hope will happen in 2023. Also a few quick rapid fire reviews/catchups on things I've been reading other than Monsters.
This will be the second episode of the show that is specific to a specific title, and in this case, I've chosen Monsters by Barry Windsor-Smith. The book is 365 pages, and every panel was...well, guess you'll just have to listen and find out, eh? We get into the book, we get personal, and we get what may some consider as...controversial?!
If you like what you hear, drop a quick 5-star review so the show can find its natural, organic audience! Thanks for listening! -
Episode #11 - Screwed Up Characters - Comic Characters I Irrationally Hate PART 1
Everyone has those characters that they hate to see, in any title, for any reason. That's everyone right? Just me..? No problem! I begin a series of episodes focusing on the important things - hating certain characters to an irrational degree.
Do I know all their origins? Do I know all the different takes by creators of them? Have I read their every appearance? Nope. Does that stop me from wanting a blackhole to swallow them up forever? NOPE.
My cousin (silently) joins me on this one, so you'll probably hear him burp in the background during the episode.
LET THE HATE HATE HATE HATING BEGIN! -
Episode #10 - Screwed Up Movie Night - Blade (1998)
Hey hey SUComics gang - tonight I am set up with my gear in the living room with the OG Blade movie from 1998. This is *OBVIOUSLY* the greatest comic book-based movie ever, therefore, debating this is futile.
After talking about how incredible the opening scene was on my IG and Twitter (@ComicChives), I couldn't resist firing this film back up for what has to be a 100th+ play.
I will be watching the movie, pausing, and recording little segments. This could be a disaster, it could rule - let's find out together, shall we? In the end I thought to myself, "today is a good day, keep that vibe up." And so I wanted to make an episode that felt like a hangout. Hope y'all enjoy.
Make sure to give the show a 5-star review! 👍🏽 Don't be stingy with the praise 😅

Fresh take on comics
There are many comic podcasts but not many provide a beginner’s angle to the fandom of comics. This podcast does a great job of giving a unique perspective of what people love about comics without going into the latest news or doing an issue by issue comic review. Instead there is thematic lifeline through each episode that gives a broader understanding of what makes comics in general fascinating. Really good listen and highly recommend!
