Sean Muldoon on How a “Non-Soccer Guy” Became Successful in Soccer Physical Preparation Podcast Archives - Robertson Training Systems

    • Fitness

Sean Muldoon is currently in his 3rd season as the Seattle Sounders’ Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Before joining the Sounders staff in 2016, Sean—a “non-soccer guy”—coached at the collegiate level, serving as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for UNC Charlotte and as the Interim Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the University of Miami.

Despite never having played soccer before, Sean has found his success with the Seattle Sounders, where he supports the high-performance manager, leads all gym-based activities, and works in conjunction with the medical department on athletic development and rehabilitation programs.

Sean joins me today to discuss how he built his success coaching in professional soccer despite not having any experience playing the sport.

He shares his journey from coaching at the collegiate level to coaching professional sports and reveals the most important lessons he learned from working with high-level performance managers and athletes.

And he also discusses the value of persistently building connections with other coaches and underscores the importance of paying attention to the messages coaches give to their athletes.

Be clear about your strengths as a coach and make them your superpowers. – Sean Muldoon
