Brimming with Potential

Long have I been waiting, as a working musician and specifically a working jazz musician in a major US city, for a podcast focusing on the process and lifes of the modern day jazz troubadour.
Being a big fan of Marc Maron and having ben deeply invested in his narration of the lifes of standup comics, I often felt that the roadworn jazz musician had a similar tale to tell. One of big dreams, not always realized. Deeply dedicated, passionate and sensitve but often under appreciated and nearly always under compensated.
I think this podcast could soar if Sean could step back and give up some mic time. Colin Stranahan is a thoughtful person with much to say, but being a great sideman with great sideman manners, sat back for 75% of the interview and listened to Sean pontificate about politics, sprituality, personal experience, finance, et al.
Part of what makes a podcast have a common thread and flow is the interviewer's interjection of personal experience running parrell to the subject's life experience. It grounds the interview. This is what makes Maron great. But just a small dose of a narcissism can can send things spiraling out of control to the point where your guest is doing little more than listening to you spin tangent after tangent.
Get a little more organized, focus more on the subject at hand's life, work and career. Where did they come from? Where did they study (or not)? Influences? What made them great? What obsticales have they faced (both personally and professionally?)
Thanks and keep it up!
