Season 1, Episode 6: Touching Darkness The Sound of Loneliness

    • Mental Health

Welcome to The Sound of Loneliness Podcast!

This podcast is hosted by Registered Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor, Founder & Executive Director of Valley Connections Counselling Amanda Youssef.

*Disclaimer: Please be aware that this episode discusses sensitive topics related to disordered eating that may not be suitable for all viewers.*

In today’s episode, I’m joined by Ashley Thistlethwaite, a psychotherapist at my practice, and she shares with me her journey of having an eating disorder and going through hospitalization for this as a child and young adult.  At times, even when surrounded by concerned family and an army of health practitioners, Ashley, found herself slipping into a lonely part of herself, a part we call “Sarah”, and a touching darkness that threatened to steal her life.

Listen as Ashley vulnerably opens up about the war within her that she was only able to end when she found empathy and compassion for “Sarah”, and led that part of her back to the light she held within her.

We hope you enjoy these stories of grit and grace.
