Aaron Torres Sports Podcast

SEC football chaos, Gregg Marshall + Arkansas coach Eric Musselman joins the show

It's Thursday and you know what that means: An all new Aaron Torres Podcast is live. Aaron discusses the chaos in college football (where four SEC games were canceled) previews Week 11 and discusses the end of the Gregg Marshall era at Wichita. Then he is joined by Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman to discuss the season ahead and coaching college hoops in the Covid era. Here is a rundown of today's show:

College football chaos, Week 11, Gregg Marshall: Aaron opens the show by discussing chaos in college football, where four SEC games have been canceled this week (3:30). He explains why it happened and why things won't get better if college sports don't loosen their contact tracing protocols. He then discusses the light Week 11 slate (18:30) and discusses what looks like the end of the Gregg Marshall era at Wichita (28:30). Aaron explains why when Wichita does move off of Gregg Marshall, he believes why it would be smart to wait until after the season to pursue the school's next permanent coach.

Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman joins the show: With the college hoops season now just a few weeks away, Aaron is welcomed by his old friend, Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman to preview the season ahead (40:00). Coach Muss discusses what it is like to coach college hoops in the Covid era, and how his program has adjusted practices, scheduling and eventually game days. He also described the strength of SEC hoops, why it's the league that most resembles the NBA, and explains the inspiration he has gotten from watching Arkansas football coach Sam Pittman work his magic this fall.
