SECOND SUNDAY after PENTECOST

Divine Service, Setting One

♫ HYMN OF INVOCATION “From All That Dwell Below the Skies” LSB 816

From all that dwell below the skies

Let the Creator’s praise arise; Alleluia, Alleluia!

Let the Redeemer’s name be sung

Through every land by every tongue.

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Eternal are Thy mercies, Lord;

Eternal truth attends Thy Word. Alleluia, Alleluia!

Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore

Till suns shall rise and set no more.

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

All praise to God the Father be,

All praise, eternal Son, to Thee. Alleluia, Alleluia!

Whom with the Spirit we adore

Forever and forevermore.

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

INVOCATION, CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION p. 151

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

silence for reflection on God’s Word and for self-examination.

Let us then confess our sins to God our Father.

Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean.

We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves.

We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment.

For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.

Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

♫ Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise to the LORD | all the earth!*

Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into His presence with | singing!

Know that the LORD | He is God!*

It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His | pasture.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His | courts with praise!

Give thanks to Him; | bless His name!

For the LORD is good; His steadfast love endures for- | ever,*

and His faithfulness to all gener- | ations.

Glory be to the Father and | to the Son*

   And to the Holy | Spirit;

As it was in the be- | ginning,*

is now, and will be forever. | Amen.
