Second treatise on Government, John Locke

John Locke's Second Treatise on Government is one of the most important documents in history. Most of the basic ideas that we assume in representative government are philosophically demonstrated and supported. Once the second treatise is grasped one cannot help but see the thinking of the Founding Fathers echoing Locke's thinking as they framed both the Declaration and the Constitution. Locke is much easier to read and follow than many 18th century thinkers, yet he is amazingly thorough and connected to real life issues. The reading of this text is excellent and makes Lockes ideas come to fresh life again. Locke has lost none of his relevence and this production allows him to speak again. It is amazing how his clear thinking helps us today amidst our current political upheaval over the intent of the original documents of our republic. This is a must "listen" for every person concerned with our nation's future.
