Love and Music: A Rock’N’Roll Journey Through Alzheimer’s Seeds of Sunshine - A mother-daughter podcast

    • Self-Improvement

Episode 30

Join our hosts Carmen and Sophia Micsa to learn about a true love story, as told by our fabulous guest Renee Schyjer, who was Frederick Moore's second wife. He was first married to the actress Demi Moore.

Renee fell in love and married the rocker Frederick Moore, who was an incredible songwriter, lyricist, and musician and recently published his memoir “It’s Not a Rumour, a Rock’N’Roll journey through life and Alzheimer’s together with Shannon Guyton, a Los Angeles-based freelance writer and content strategist. She’s an editor, ghostwriter, co-author, and mom of two amazing teens who thrives on helping the coolest people bring their stories to life on the page.
Frederick’s memoir is a sad and raucously funny story with so many facets, such as Freddy and Renee’s love story of true soul mates, his Rock'N'Roll career, his marriage to Demi Moore who still uses his name, and Frederick’s early-onset Alzheimer’s.
Frederick Moore rocked and rolled his way through life as “Rick,” “Skogie,” and “Freddy,” almost becoming famous. In the 1960s his bands Skogie and the Flaming Pachucos reached local stardom. The 1990s and early 2000s led Moore to the computer-programming world.

Renee Schyjer has the following message this Valentine's day:
The songs interspersed in Frederick Moore's memoir It's Not a Rumour- A Rock and Roll journey through Life and Alzheimer's not only emphasize Rick or Freddy's ( how he liked to be called) love of music, but they are a reminder that music can possibly be the antidote to Alzheimer's. Renee talks fondly about Rick's philosophy of "being high on life" while staying away from drugs and being into music instead. On stage, Freddy was like Kent Clark, Superman full of energy, jumping off the stage, and letting out his crazy personality, which was fun and entertaining to watch. The importance of learning new things.New treatments for Alzheimer's.On this Seeds of Sunshine episode:
Turning life's events into music was what kept Freddy's creative juices flowing. Even when Freddy's memory failed him, he always remembered music. Renee's favorite song is called Street Life because it detailed Freddy's coming to LA from Minnesota and wanting to assimilate into the culture. The beat of Freddy's songs is a reminder to live our lives on a high note, even when a devastating disease like Alzheimer's strikes. To buy this wonderful memoir, please go to:
