Learn to Recognise Your Own Humanity and Insecurities - Speaking to Gail David

Learn to Recognise Your Own Humanity and Insecurities - Speaking to Gail David

Join Amy in this episode as she speaks to coach Gail David. Gail is the Cofounder of TheCreators2030 UN SDGs, Arts & Youth Initiative. , which is an international platform to connect governments, citizens, NGOs and more to collaborate on how to save the planet.
Amy and Gail talk about the role of mental health and wellbeing in work spaces, the importance of personal responsibility and of course her work with youth and leaders as president of TheCreators2030 UN SDGs, Arts & Youth Initiative. .
    KEY TAKEAWAYS
At a young age, Gail realised she could easily talk to anyone anywhere. She was a people watcher too and soon recognised how useful her communication skills were. She began to feel that she could help bring people together through art, as she could see that no matter who you are or where you are from, art can speak to you.
If you can’t look after your wellbeing or mental health then it’s very difficult to survive in this world.
We need to uplift each other as a world. How you uplift is different across cultures and socioeconomic background, this is why music and the arts is so powerful because it can cross these divides.
Some challenges we face aren’t down to are our own doing or under our own control. When this happens we have to remember that they are dealing with their own issues and projecting them onto you. A lot of this is also created by society, if we weren’t always pitted against each other in competition then a lot of these problems wouldn’t arise, particularly in a work environment.
It’s important to be in the now. You need to be present in order to create and plan your future.
What drives competitiveness rather than collaboration is insecurity and bad habits. Whenever you feel the drive of competiveness, ask yourself why this is.
When you are secure within yourself and your work you will happily praise anyone and everyone who does good work. If you hold back on this or bad mouth others then that means you have insecurities you need to work on.
When you know your own humanity, you can recognise it in others.

Ep: 32 Wellness in the Workplace - Speaking with Dr. Jennifer Todd

rge in peoples interests in public help and this has translated to people wanting to make a difference, such as enrolling on the courses she teaches.
We are living in a historically difficult time for individuals and businesses. Dr Todd has witnessed some companies that have been very out-of-touch and out-of-sync with their employees lives. Companies need to move forward and work with their employees to improve their health and wellbeing and this can only be done by understanding them and their needs.
Businesses are beginning to understand that the health and wellbeing of their employees and workforce has a direct impact on how well the businesses functions.
Mental health and wellness is still stigmatised. This needs to change, Dr Todd longs for the day when discussing seeing a therapist is on the same level as mentioning a dentist appointment.
It doesn’t have to be complicated. There are many simple ways for managers and employers to offer a healthy environment for their staff, such as good communication, making an effort where it counts and making people feel like that they matter and you are thinking about them authentically.
    BEST MOMENTS
“I think this has really jarred employers and businesses into a realisation that they’re going to have to make more of an effort to ensure that employee satisfaction and wellness are more of a priority for their business”

“They’re very aware that they depend on a health workforce in order to get day to day work done”

“A pay check isn’t enough if an incentive to go to go forward and go to work everyday...”
