    16. The King's Challenge

    16. The King's Challenge

    Mark 10:13-34
We have a lot of options when it comes to what we can follow. In the Gospel of Mark, the shortest and most action-filled of the four gospels, Jesus asks us a question: “who do you say that I am?” This question is actually the defining question of our lives, because it reveals what we follow.

The Gospel of Mark has good news for us—in it, we see Jesus demonstrating his power, authority, and priorities, along the way helping us answer his eternally important question. Walking alongside Jesus, we will see what it means to follow him, and why it’s worth it.

    7. Isaiah's Answer: A Son of David

    7. Isaiah's Answer: A Son of David

    Isaiah 9:1-7
Welcome the King | Advent 2022: Writing 600 years before Christ, Isaiah anticipated the time when “the people who walked in darkness” would see “a great light” (Isaiah 9:2). He looked forward to the arrival of the true King, who would reign on the throne of King David “with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore” (9:7).

Who is this King? Who did Isaiah say he would be? He tells us in Isaiah 9:6: This child will be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Together, we will explore each one of these glorious titles for Jesus each Sunday in Advent.
