Following their tangle with the Black Spiral Dancers, Kult questions the prisoner and the pack begins to make plans about how to move forward. Thanks to Penthesilea's contacts, Josephine will be taken to safety while the pack works to deal with the mess left behind in the jungle. A mysterious vision strikes the party's theurge and she's driven to find a young man and woman in hopes they can help.

The pack experiences a rude awakening, with some strange sorcery causing a nearby tree to catch fire. Pen's experience as a theurge helps her to guide Ramsey in reaching out to his ancestors. Thomas discovers a foreboding letter on the mage's laptop. A romp through the jungle brings them to a chaotic scene full of Black Spiral Dancers and a fire-throwing mage.
