    Joan completed her veterinary training at the Veterinary College of Western Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada in 1986.
    She also has post graduate training in immunology and veterinary pathology at the University of Sydney, Since completing her training she has worked extensively in research roles for the NSW Department of Primary Industries within the pharmaceuticals and livestock industries.
