    Where are your eyes?

    Where are your eyes?

There are moments in life where we feel like we've hit a wall and we just don't know where to turn. Or maybe you've found yourself the victim of circumstances outside of your control, dazed and confused.
Hi I'm Quentin Bemis from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with today's minute message.
In the book of 2nd Chronicles chapter 20 we find King Jehoshaphat in a similar situation with armies closing in around the nation of Judah. In this moment, he calls together all the people to pray for guidance and deliverance. In verse 12 he closes out this powerful prayer with these words: "We don't know what to do, but our eyes are on you."
Prayer is a powerful ally in the midst of struggles and circumstances. We have a God who actually wants to hear the deepest groanings of our souls. We can be fully honest with Him, just like King Jehoshaphat. When we ask, God promises to meet us in that space of uncertainty. So when you feel bogged down, defeated, or just lost, take a moment and pray that prayer: "God, I don't know what to do, but my eyes are on you."

Everyone Is Annoying But Me (Default Settings - Week 2)

Everyone Is Annoying But Me (Default Settings - Week 2)

In the sermon "Everyone is Annoying But Me?" Shawn discusses feeling annoyed with others and emphasizes extending grace. He highlights our default setting of being easily offended, rooted in our brokenness with God and one another. By curating what we consume and aligning our hearts with Jesus, we can break free from anger and judgment. The sermon ends with a call to respond by seeking transformation through confession, prayer, and embracing the kindness of God.

    Are you keeping in step?

    Are you keeping in step?

The average adult walks 5,000 steps each day. A toddler, however, walks an average of 14 thousand steps, or 2 and a half miles every day. Toddlers may take baby steps, but those small steps cover a lot of distance.

Hi, I’m Maggie Mobley from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.

People, both young and old, take many steps each day. We walk in our own way, each on a unique journey. Micah 6:8 says “The Lord has shown you what is good. He has told you what he requires of you. You must treat people fairly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.”
When you take a walk with someone you don’t go in opposite directions. If you walk
in a different direction you can’t listen to them, you can’t
    share things
    with them, and
you won’t be able to understand what they say. The same thing happens if we don’t
walk in the same direction with God. When you walk in step with the Lord, then you
can hear him, and your will is going to align with His will. We want to walk side by
side with God so that our focus will be on Him.
Henry Ford said “Those who walk with God, always reach their destination.” As you
take your steps each day, as you walk from place to place, put your focus on
walking humbly with God, by walking in the same direction and in step with Him.

Are you running the race or wearing the swag?

Are you running the race or wearing the swag?

The sweatshirt I’m wearing today is from last year’s Monumental Marathon. I developed an injury about halfway through my training, so now I have a sweatshirt for a race I didn’t run making it look like I did something I didn’t do.
Hi, I’m Shawn from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
The New Testament compares following Jesus to running a race. Faith requires endurance and discipline. Training and perseverance. By grace, God gives us everything we need to run the race set before us.
But, there are times in my faith journey when, instead of running the race, I’m just wearing the SWAG. I give the appearance of following Jesus without the substance of it.
    Can you relate?
What’s amazing is that God’s grace hasn’t given up on me yet...and He won’t give up on you, either. Instead, He continues to pursue us with His love and invite us into a deeper relationship with him.
So are you running the race, or just wearing the SWAG? Giving the appearance of faith without the substance. Jesus has so much more for you. And, if you let him, he’ll take you on a journey that is better than anything you can imagine.
