Episode 34: Drop Culture ... Is it sustainable?

Episode 34: Drop Culture ... Is it sustainable?

There's something happening in the retail world and it's becoming more noticeable ... "the drop."  This sales tactic, relies on releasing a limited-edition product, collection, or service without much advance warning.  The idea is to create hype around the drop thus, facilitating a sense of urgency to buy due to the perceived scarcity of the offer.  Whew.  That's a lot of fancy business words.

In short, this Drop Culture, has been around for a long, long time.  And we're seeing more and more of this type of strategy and marketing because ... it works.  In fact, pairing the Drop Culture with today's advertising on Social Media, makes for one super-effective way to reach current and prospective customers and clients.

But can "the drop" work for every business?  Is it sustainable?  Listen to the podcast to hear our thoughts and how we've used "the drop" to drive revenue.

Episode 32: Seven Habits of Highly Effective Women

Episode 32: Seven Habits of Highly Effective Women

Back in the stone ages … 1989, Stephen Covey wrote a book called, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, and it had a profound impact on the world, selling 25 million copies in 40 different languages worldwide. Covey coined the idea of having an abundance mentality, which means you believe there’s always enough resources, ideas, or paths to success for everyone. Success and abundance will never run out or become scarce.

What are these 7 habits? Here’s the cliff notes if you haven’t read the book yet …

    1. Be proactive- achieve extraordinary results by consistently executing with resourcefulness and initiative to break through barriers
    2. Begin with the end in mind- develop an outcome-oriented mindset in every activity you engage in
    3. Put first things first- eliminate energy and time-wasting tendencies by focusing and executing on your team’s wildly important goals with a weekly planning
    4. Think win-win- lead teams that are motivated to perform superbly through shared expectation and accountability process
    5. Seek first to understand, then be understood- create an atmosphere of helpful give-and-take by taking time to fully understand issues, and give candid and accurate feedback
    6. Synergize- use teamwork to achieve your goals
    7. Sharpen the saw- continuous improvement

But back when this book was written … about 29 years ago … it was really meant for men in business. Totally fine. But what are the 7 habits of highly effective women today?

Episode 31: Life Hacks Are Lame. Just Live Smart.

Episode 31: Life Hacks Are Lame. Just Live Smart.

I’m sorry, but when I hear the term “life hack” it makes me want to hit my head against the wall. Has life become so difficult that we need to “hack” it to make it through the day?

Whatever happened to making smart choices or educated decisions as we navigate our lives? When did we start ignoring wisdom and think that we can “hack” our way through problem-solving like we’re computers or robots?

But the thing that really bugs me about these so-called “life hacks” is that they offer a false sense of security. Use this hack and … you’ve got it. No worries. You’ve hacked it!

Sorry, that’s not how life or business work. There isn’t a prescribed way to go about anything. Every problem requires a unique solution. And making mistakes often leads to big success.

Today we’ll be talking about how life hacks will rob both you and your business of actually making good decisions.

Studio Owner Must!

I’m so glad I somehow stumbled across this podcast, it’s full of amazing information for any fitness/yoga studio! I’m always interested to hear how other successful studios have built up their businesses and appreciate the honesty and realness this podcast provides. The ladies on this podcast have really helped me realize I’m not alone as a small studio owner and we all have our fair share of struggles along the way! The content on this podcast is too knot has and has really inspired me to continue to grow my rockstar tribe! Loving She’s On Her Toes!

Speaking some truth!

It’s nice to have an honest take on what it’s like to be in the fitness industry. I love episode 10 since I was also an avid babysitters club reader (I read all of them). Another thing we have in common Carolyn! One of my pet peeves about myself is being a non-committal reader (go for magazines, articles, etc) but I used to be a novel reader and somehow I’ve lost it so one of my goals is to read more books cover to cover! I love hearing all 3 of you just be you. The genuine honesty that comes through will keep your listeners for the long term. Keep it up ladies I already know you are fantastic bc I have the pleasure of working with you. Well done! 👍👯‍♀️❤️👏🏻

Fun and Informative

As a long-time satisfied customer of Pure Barre Winston-Salem, I love learning about how Carolyn and staff have built a successful studio. They deliver a great product, and any business could learn a few things from this podcast. My career is completely outside of the business world, and I enjoy applying her principles for success to aspects of my job as well.
