We always wake up to a world where things around us are continually changing, from technology and innovation to politics. Our ideologies continue to influence our thoughts on how we react to these changes. However, such doctrines are centered on perceived behaviors, which affect our decisions and reactions to these changes. As the world continually evolves around us, our perspectives must evolve along with it. Shifting perspective(s) is about changing how we view gender roles, values, ideas, and, most importantly, life. We hope to offer a safe place to discuss our experiences while learning from each guest. This Podcast is hosted by Sia and Tommy (husband & wife), who grew up in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Our Mission is to include stories from our upbringing and how they tend to affect us as we navigate life. We hope that listeners can open their hearts and mind so that we all can evolve together.
He or She Is Not My "Type" || Episode 9
As we navigate through life, our upbringing, society, or previous experiences can impact how we choose our romantic partners. We tend to construct a physical or mental checklist of attributes/characters we look for in a romantic partner. Let’s face it; our checklist tends to be more on the physical side. Is this person tall, handsome, beautiful, have blue eyes, etc.? We’ve all heard friends say, “oh, I’m attracted to him/her, but he/she is not my type” or “he/she is not my type because I’m not attracted to him/her physically.” There is nothing wrong with having a checklist/ “type,” but are we being realistic with ourselves, or are those checklist affecting our ability to find genuine romantic partners? As you listen to this episode, we encourage you to ask yourself,it’s okay to date someone even if he/she is not your type? Are you prematurely Judging a potential partner? Are you sure about who is “Right” for you, or are the pains from your previous relationship(s) taking center stage? Are you stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns?

Undermining Our Mental Health || Episode7
Join Sia and Tommy as they highlight the importance of seeking therapy. We talk about why we tend to shy away from such discussions and quickly equate any signs of mental breakdown or mental health to spiritual sickness or the "work of the devil."
