This show is the goods.

Catching up with this series is too much fun; I’m hearing commentary about issues that barely registered with me after watching an episode of, say, Picard.

I was already a fan of other work by these two gentlemen, and now I have the pleasure of hearing genuinely high-level criticism of current shows that mean a lot to me. Even the few things I’ve disagreed with them about thus far make me wish I was up to the challenge of palavering with the likes of them.

So good.

Great discussion!

Love hearing you guys discuss this stuff. It’s always compelling to hear critical views of things we love so dearly!

One thing I’ll add to the discussion, specifically in response to the trepidation over the Borg as the villain yet again. I think the idea that the Borg’s only defeat has ever really come from the Federation makes it perfectly reasonable that they would adapt their assimilations to biology vs. just technology. In the era of CRISPR, I love that they’re blurring the lines of what is a “technological” assimilation by altering DNA. I just wish we’d had more than 1/2 of an episode to explore that.

Why Geordi is at the fleet museum

So far I’ve enjoyed the few episodes I’ve listened to and unfortunately not smart enough to make this comment directly related to the episode but my thought is Geordi requested the Fleet Museum. After all his adventures I believe he was ready to throttle down for his family plus he’s in charge of getting all of the classic antique ships up to snuff for display…I could see an engineer of his quality being content working on and refurbishing historical ships…also I think Star Fleet wanted him in charge of the Enterprise D reconstruction
