    • Business

In today’s Friday Conversation, First Lady Abby Cox gave insight into her organization Show Up Utah, which addresses several important topics in Utah today. Among these topics are the foster care system, community service, teachers and education, and unified sports.

Her organization is aiming to help more kids get adopted considering around 150 kids each year are aging out of the foster care system in Utah without a family or home.

Another important topic she focused on is service and how service not only helps build our communities, but it can actually help our own brain development.

She highlighted some issues in the education system such as low pay for teachers, the help teachers need in developing emotional skills, and the immense impact teachers have on their students.

Lastly, the First Lady shared about how several Utah schools have been pairing students with and without intellectual disabilities on the same sports teams and how this is changing the culture in those schools in a great way.
