I’m super excited to present our next guest, Cheryl Ringer, whom I was able to meet at the BlogHer Conference over in New York City last year. Cheryl is one of those cool people with lots of energy, strong work ethic, but yet has a chilled-out zen presence. Well, it makes sense as she’s got 200 hours of yoga instruction under her belt. While I’m not a yogi per se, I do indulge in the occasional yoga class from time to time and it’s certainly a great, relaxing habit to add in one’s life. Anyway, you’ll hear Cheryl’s amazing story on how she was able to turn a failure into a success so she’s finally in a place to do work that she enjoys. If you’ve ever been interested in traditional publishing, you’ll love this episode as it can give you ideas on how to pitch your book to an editor.

There are tons of leadership books out there right now. What is it that's going to make someone say, 'Now that's the one I need to pick up, that's the thing that makes this different from XYZ books that were also published this year in the leadership space.' The second thing I would emphasize is platform. So the more you are getting content out into the world—whether it be through a podcast or writing on your blog, writing for HBR, Forbes, Inc.—any of those big outlets that you can get your content out there, make sure that content also relates to the topic of the book. That's going to be super helpful. (12:46)

I'm definitely someone who likes to help other people—so being able to help these authors to get their word out to...
