Politics

For those of you saying this show recently got too political, clearly you haven’t been listening very long, these two women have always expressed their dislike of Trump and his wackadoo policies and it is their right to do so. These are two of the best podcasters out there in my humble opinion. Thank you Heather and Christie for all the great content!
Enjoy this podcast a lot!!

Update: Still love the podcast but want to address the negative reviews about politics. The amazing women are allowed to talk about whatever they feel is important to them, politics obviously is. If you didn’t realize that before the 2024 election, that just goes to show how ignorant you are with the media you consume. It wasn’t a shock they have strong opinions about conservatives that voted for a garbage person. Love these ladies a lot. Super funny, intelligent, and interesting. Always respectful of victims (when there are any) and always make my drive between clients a much enjoyable ride!

I have been a huge fan of the show for a really long time now. I love the topics, perspective, and politics of both Christie and Heather. I am unfortunately unfollowing as the episodic use and mention of ChatGPT has left a bad taste in my mouth. I am not an "all AI is bad" but we know ChatGPT has massive effects on our environment (please read the Earth.org article "The Environmental Impacts of ChatGPT" by Sophie Mclean, "What to Know About ChatGPT's Impact on Planetary Resources" a ForeignPress.org article, and "Generative AI’s environmental costs are soaring — and mostly secret" by Kate Crawford). Using generative AI "even for the things used for are simple" will eventually have an impact on us and our future. Also while embracing technology is the best way to advance, consistently using a technology we know to harm our environment feels opposite of the message Christie and Heather usually give. I hope they will at least address the impacts of ChatGPT even if they continue to use it for the podcast.

I’ve been listening to Sinisterhood for several years and it’s still by far one of my favorites for anything spooky or sinister. The hosts take time to explore topics in depth before sharing on their opinions and personal takes, which is nice to give the audience a chance to craft their perspectives along with them. For the most part, complaints about the political elements of the show are bad faith arguments, since, as this show has helped teach me, so much of the subjects they discuss (particularly true crime) do relate back to understanding the political landscape of the past and present. The only thing I have recently been disappointed with and had to knock a star off my rating for is the emerging trend of the hosts using ChatGPT. I got that it was shiny and new to play with at first, but all of the really terrible things coming out about how generative AI models get trained, it’s super disappointing to see people who tend to value human creation and fairness to so casually talk about chatbots that have been trained on stolen writing. It makes me worry that the writing I so love on this podcast may start getting supplemented with AI generated scripts, which would be more of a turn off than any single topic the show could cover.
