Most people know Beverly Mahone on social media as Auntie Bev, it's that familiar moniker that has made over 1 million people fall in love with her radiant personality and well-developed lexicon.Auntie Bev splashed onto social media by giving us her word for the day. Inspired by her then 14-year-old grandson to get on TikTok she listened, since then she’s gained over 1 million followers on Instagram, created a community of word lovers, authored several books, given history lessons, and some motivation. And now she has a new vocabulary dictionary, WordUp! Vocabulary Dictionary.

A Black Girl in the Middle: A Conversation With Shenequa Golding

Sistah Girls, I’m so excited to have Shenequa Golding on the podcast! Golding is a writer and an editor whose work focuses on race, gender, popular culture, and entertainment. After earning a degree in print journalism from Hampton University, Golding began her career as general-assignment reporter for a small newspaper owned by the Chicago Sun-Times.There, she covered everything from town-hall meetings to teen murders. A native New Yorker, Golding returned to her roots as an entertainment writer. Her work, both on-camera and in print, has appeared in prominent Black publications such as Vibe and Essence, as well as mainstream outlets, including Complex, the Associated Press, BBC, and Vanity Fair. Reimagining Your Life With Rachel E. Cargle

Sistah Girls, I'm so excited that we have author, activist, and entrepreneur Rachel E. Cargle on the podcast! Rachel Cargle is an Akron, Ohio born writer, entrepreneur and philanthropic innovation. Her work and upcoming book with Penguin Random House, centers the reimagining of womanhood, solidarity and self and how we are in relationship with ourselves and one another. In 2018 she founded The Loveland Foundation, Inc., a non-profit offering free therapy to Black women and girls. Her umbrella company, The Loveland Group houses a collection of Rachel’s social ventures including The Great Unlearn, a self-paced, donation-based learning community, The Great Unlearn for Young Learners – an online learning space for young folks launching in 2022, and Elizabeth’s Bookshop & Writing Centre – an innovative literacy space designed to amplify, celebrate and honor the work of writers who are often excluded from traditional cultural, social and academic canons.Rachel is a regular contributor to Cultured magazine, Atmos magazine and The Cut, and has been featured in The Washington Post, The New York Times, Forbes, Harper’s Bazaar and The New Yorker. Without credentials, connections, or a college degree, a hip-hop journalist and community leader conquered her imposter syndrome while landing one of the most exclusive, sought-after, and fun positions in the White House.From, 2015 to 2017 Dyer served as the White House Social Secretary for the Obama administration. While at the White House, Dyer followed Obama's wishes and opened up the most popular house in the world to everyday people. She infused Black culture and created some of the most memorable events in U.S. history. Now, with a new company and a new outlook on work and life, Deesha has added author to her name. Her memoir Undiplomatic: How My Attitude Created the Best Kind of Trouble is a story that reminds everyone that it's not where you start but how you finish.
