Sitka Blacktailed Deer are not as well known as some of the other species of deer, but they are just as magnificent. They are native to the dense rainforests of Southeast Alaska and Northern BC. I was first introduced to them when I spent time on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska. After some research I heard about Jim Baichtal. Jim has spent a lot of years pursuing these magnificent deer as a hunter but he has also been involved in researching them as a scientist.
