Is it a championing of a misunderstood band, a meditation on growing up in the south, an exploration of race relations, a love letter to my Dad, or just a bunch of "Y"-filled jokes about a stupid rock band? Let’s find out, while I review every Lynyrd Skynyrd song, one episode at a time. Turn it up!
Bonus Ep. Sweet Florida
Let's come together to mourn the release of Johnny and Donnie Van Zant's new song, "Sweet Florida."
Special Guest Mike Cooley
The great Mike Cooley from Drive by Truckers joins the show to discuss songwriting, Alabama, politics, and dogs. We even take a deep dive into a few of his songs. And, yes, there is some top notch Skynyrd talkyn'.
Bonus. Ep - Free Bird Yeller Talks Free Bird Live
In this special episode, one of my all-time favorite listeners, the great Free Bird Yeller, shares his all-time favorite live version of Free Bird. Sit back, relax, and prepare for launch.
Bonus Ep. Just a Couple Old Friends Talkyn' Skynyrd
In this special episode, my dear old (simple?) friend Aaron joins me to discuss our least favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd song. Also, our very first giveaway!
Bonus Ep. Special Guest Zephaniah Ohora
Country artist Zephaniah Ohora joins the podcast to discuss his amazing new album, Listening to the Music. We take a deep dive into Zephaniah's songs and chat about Neal Casal, releasing an album during a pandemic, and the Grateful Dead. Oh, and Skynyrd.
Bonus Ep. T for Texas
In this bonus episode we discuss T for Texas, from One More From the Road. Plus a heartwarming Ed King story and Steve Gaines entry to the band.
Never pulled my gun
I love this podcast and how detailed it is. As a 30 year Skynyrd fan it speaks to me. I do have to let you know that “I never pulled my gun” isn’t referring to a literal gun. Innuendo.
Anyone who does a Skynyrd podcast should be a fan of the band. The podcaster spends more time talking about everything other than the band. You will learn nothing about the band listening to this bore fest.
This is the best Skynyrd podcast. It's probably the only Skynyrd podcast.
