Slowing the Free Fall Masks Off For People-Pleasers & Perfectionists
-
- Self-Improvement
In the previous episode, Kim and Tia discussed that when we believe the thoughts and stories we tell ourselves, we create suffering for ourselves. Essentially when there is an event that takes place we all attach a meaning to that event. We label the event as good or bad, rather than just saying that it just is. We attach a meaning to these events and then that meaning creates an emotion and that emotion creates a feeling in our bodies, which then causes a particular behavior. This is how we develop habits and addictions as well as our limiting belief systems. Kim and Tia talk about what we can do to slow down the free fall off the side of the mountain so that we don’t completely send ourselves into a tailspin.
“When we believe in our thoughts, when we tell ourselves a story, we suffer. 'My husband doesn't respect me.' 'I should be thinner.' Those are stories. When there's no story, there's no suffering.” ~Byron Katie
