    • Education

“And I’ve delved down and up many rabbit holes. It’s all part of that self-care journey of learning. Self-care strengthens healthy habits, it changes unhealthy behaviours in ourselves and others. The change comes from within because it’s our journey and no one else’s. Ideally as we work to being the best version of ourselves, those we love around us will also be our best supporters club.” ~ Suz Bothamley

Suz has been through many ups and downs, and had many opportunities for growth where she has had to train herself to get comfortable being uncomfortable. She has encapsulated all her life learnings into her business called BellaSQ wihch focuses on providing Health and Wellbeing information in the form of a Wellbeing Toolkit to support the health and wellbeing of employees. In this interview she shares her powerful story, how and why she came to understand the importance of selfcare, and her journey to now.

You need to nourish yourself first – mind, body and spirit
Support those around you, can only come second
Respect your environment, as we are the ripple effect
Her favourite quotes are:
“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviour. Keep your behaviour positive because your behaviour becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. And keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.” ~ Mahatma Ghandi
“Just add in the good stuff, and eventually it’s going to crowd out the bad stuff.” ~ David Wolfe

Quotes:
If you want to grow you have to get comfortable being uncomfortable
These are all lessons of my heart
What we resists persists
Triggers are an opportunity to peel back the onion layers
Self-care is a journey of learning
Self-care strengthens healthy habits
It changes unhealthy behaviours in self and others
We’ve all got a story but we are the architect it
You can reclaim your story, reinvent your character, reshape your plot and release your ending
Trust, acceptance and freedom
A self-care journey is about incremental changes
If you are open to being vulnerable it’s actually not that scary
It’s more the fear of confronting it
There are resources and support and it is possible to move forward
Our journey of healing is really our own
It’s all about bite-sized pieces
Do whatever you can do to take care of yourself
There is no ceiling, you are the mast of your story
You have a story, it’s how you write it
Self-care is your own journey
