Gibbor: Hebrew word that means “mighty, strong, valiant, tyrant, powerful, champion” 

In the past few years, a trend has been gaining momentum in the world of Bible studies. That trend is the exploration of the supernatural content of Scripture. 

As Westerners, who are largely under-educated in the Ancient Hebrew culture, making  many parts of the Bible seem ultra mysterious to us. We have a tendency to view the Word as missing details and context. Our curiosity leads us to a feeling of entitlement for further information. So we set out to discover teachers to feed our  appetite, as if the Bible can’t satisfy us as it is. And in the nature of Western civilization, plenty of people have risen to the occasion to fill the needs and the desires of the masses, all for their personal gain. 

This episode takes a look at this behavior and how so many of us have adopted extra-biblical sources as our doctrine, superseding God’s True Word, and elevating our teachers and their content to idol status.

The truth shall make you free
But what is TRUTH? 

A community I once embraced has gone full cognitive dissonance recently, spreading lies they claim to be the truth, because they want them to be true. The group I thought were the good guys have been slipping further and further into darkness, behaving just as evil as the people they oppose. You cannot fight evil with more evil. No one wins. 

These beliefs become strongholds in our minds. We build fortresses around these beliefs and protect them as if our lives depended on it. We go to extremes to protect our beliefs, even as far as wishing death on the innocent.  It’s time to break down every stronghold and take captive of every thought. It’s time to let the truth truly set us free. 

Stronghold| noun| 
1)  a  place that has been fortified so as to protect it against attack 
2) a place where a particular cause or belief is strongly defended or upheld 

** Trigger Warning** I use words in this episode that may be triggering for some people ( ie “crazy”, “psycho”, “sociopath”, “insane”, and “woman”) I also touch on subjects about mental health and abusive relationships.

This is my story about how turning my health issues over to big Medicine and big Pharma had real repercussions, like how oral birth control made me a literal crazy person. I go into detail about how  the side effects of birth control made me emotionally unstable, how it affected my relationships, how this led me to being on a cocktail of mood stabilizers that numbed me out so completely that I consented to marrying a complete narcissist and utterly imploded my life  in a state of emotional indifference . I reveal my shameful behavior that was sparked by uncontrollable irrational jealousy and the project  I used to cope with that shame once I came to my senses. I take you on a ride through some of the 44 pages of the package insert of this particular birth control pill, shining a spotlight on the scary dangers of the pill, something that no doctor or pharmacist ever offered to disclose to me or anyone I knew taking the same pills. I try to do all of this with an air of dark humor, in an attempt to keep it on the lighter side, complete with a side dish of awkwardly  laughing at myself.

Welcome to the latest episode. I recorded this one a few weeks ago and contemplated deleting it rather than publishing it. I was coming off of a very emotional weekend after having a disagreement with a loved one compounded by getting absolutely roasted in my inbox by several overly legalistic believers.

I was feeling down, deflated, defeated, heartbroken, and wanting to just quit my journey on social media. I wanted to write off the community altogether and retreat to my own personal world of loving the Lord all alone. Instead, I sat down and wrote a letter to those that are newly walking this narrow path that are experiencing the abandonment of their closest friends and the abandonment of seasoned Christians who would rather hyper-focus on the most mundane details rather than focus on sharing the Gospel for Christ with one another. This is the loving advice I wish someone had cared enough to share with me when I first started this journey instead of beating me down with their opinion on how my “work” isn’t good enough.

I pray those who need this message receive it with great comfort and great love.

The Duplicitous Doctrine of Demons
