We talk about movies and TV a LOT. So we started a podcast! We'll talk about tv shows, film, pop culture in general, and really whatever else we feel like talking about because tbh we go off on tangents pretty regularly. We do our best to like everything but some things just can't be redeemed. So sit back and enjoy our rantings on So...I'm Watching this Show!

Episode 420: Thor Love and Thunder!

Episode 420: Thor Love and Thunder!

Despite the somewhat mixed reviews, and our own criticisms, we both really loved Thor Love and Thunder! Maybe it’s because our expectations were lowered a bit by the reviews or by Marvel’s kind of lackluster Phase 4, but either way we really enjoyed it. We just wish there was more of it!

It’s BURSTING with life and pace, it just never stops to let you steep in the moment very long. We would have loved for this exact story to be 15-20m longer, and we would have welcomed even more depth introduced for Bale’s Gorr. What did you think of Thor Love and Thunder?

Again, we loved it despite its faults and we hope you did too! Let us know what you thought in the comments below! And as always, keep it civil. No need to be mean if someone doesn’t have the same opinion as you.

Episode 419: Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith!

Episode 419: Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith!

Finally we are done! The heavy task of rewatching the Star Wars prequels is finally complete! And honestly, Revenge of the Sith is a nice way to end it. It’s definitely the best of the bunch, warts and all, and has some genuinely good imagery. I mean that Anakin over the shoulder look? Come on.

What do you think of the Revenge of the Sith or even the Star Wars prequels in general? Let us know over on Twitter or in the YouTube comments! I think ultimately we’re glad we went back and watched them. They aren’t masterpieces, but there are some gems to be mined from them. Once more, keep the conversation civil. For now though, settle in for today’s Have You Ever Heard The Tragedy of Darth Plageuis the Wise episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!

    Episode 418: MEN [SPOILER REVIEW]

    Episode 418: MEN [SPOILER REVIEW]

We’ve been pretty big fans of Alex Garland’s for a while now. First as Dany Boyle’s frequent script writer, then as a director. Ex Machina quickly became one of our favorite sci-fi flicks and then Annihilation kind of just blew us away. So there was no reason for us not to be excited about MEN.

Unfortunately Men doesn’t quite stick the landing. It marketed itself as some commentary on the nature of Men™ but it really didn’t hit that point very well, and didn’t really expand on that idea. And man, that ending. I mean what the heck…

That’s not to say that Men is completely without merit. It’s a stunning looking film with killer, unsettling cinematography. That unsettling look is matched and exceeded by Rory Kinnear’s completely unhinged performance as all of the men in the town. And Jessie Buckley never disappoints. For the first two acts, all four of us were kind of on the edge of our seats waiting for the explanation or the twist or anything. But it never came and the ending we got sort of retroactively ruined the movie for us.

So we didn’t HATE Men, but it was not our favorite. What did you think? It seems like a movie that will be pretty divisive so let us know your thoughts over on Twitter or in the YouTube comments! For now though, grab an apple that isn’t yours, eat that unsubtle metaphor AGGRESSIVELY, and settle in for today’s episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!

Episode 417: Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of the Clones! FIRST WATCH(ish)! [SPOILER REVIEW]

Episode 417: Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of the Clones! FIRST WATCH(ish)! [SPOILER REVIEW]

With the Disney+ Obi-Wan show fast approaching we thought it was high time we caught Kristin up on the prequels. We know that likely the most relevant existing property will be the Clone Wars, but we don’t have that kind of time. So we’re watching the prequels! Today we’re talking about Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones!

And this one is a doozy. We really get into the nitty gritty about why Episode 2 is such a mess so just listen to the episode. But man, it’s a weird one.

What do you think of Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones? Obviously this is sort of a hotly debated topic. The people that like the prequels tend to love them, so if you see a differing opinion in the comments just keep it civil. For now though, settle in for today’s episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!

Episode 416: Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace!

So we’re watching the prequels, and you can’t talk us out of it.

There’s nothing we can say that hasn’t already been said, but there’s a lot of joy to be had watching someone process Episode 1 for the first time. I mean the sheer volume of bad calls by writer and director George Lucas is just staggering. There HAD to be better takes!

Kristin had seen this one before, sort of, but this was her first time really sitting down and coming to terms with it. And bot howdy does it take some work. Wil has quite a nostalgia for these films, but even he has a hard time with The Phantom Menace.

The people that like the prequels tend to love them, so if you see a differing opinion in the comments just keep it civil. Episode 415: Doctor Strange IN the Multiverse of Madness! [SPOILER REVIEW]

Episode 415: Doctor Strange IN the Multiverse of Madness! [SPOILER REVIEW]

Today we’re diving into the Multiverse of Madness with Doctor Stephen Strange! We’ve heard rumblings that this was the movie that was really going to propel us into MCU Phase 4 so we’ve been waiting with bated breath for its release.

Well, now that it’s here, we’re still waiting. We got one minor mid-credits clue but even that is so vague we don’t know what to expect. And sometimes that’s not bad. A surprise is usually a welcome part of a movie. However, it’s been three years since End Game, and even with COVID mucking up the works Marvel has been releasing stuff. Just nothing to latch onto.

We dive deep into the specifics of what we did like in this, and more about what we didn’t. Let us know what you thought about the movie and all it’s odd implications over on Twitter or in the Youtube comments!! We know people REALLY care about the MCU, but keep it civil if you’ve got an opinion that differs from someone else. For now though, settle in for today’s STAR-studded episode of So…I’m Watching This Show!

Great show

Intelligent and entertaining tv criticism. I’m so so glad they covered the insane NBC Merlin mini series. That pushed all my nostalgia buttons. Awesome podcast!! -Laurel (Midnight Myth)
