Global Majority for Peace

Socialista Champagne | How to Exploit the Cracks in Empire

In episode 82 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan speaks with Isabella Aidar (Socialista Champagne), a Brazilian‑Canadian activist, political educator, and UX designer for Tech for Palestine. Radicalized by Occupy Wall Street in 2011, Isabella traces her journey from journalism student to anti‑imperialist, scientific communist.

They discuss why anti‑imperialism must be the primary struggle for any serious movement, how the CIA co‑opted Marxism through conflation and co‑optation, and why the Global South holds more leverage than ever before. Isabella breaks down the different strategies for the Global South (technology transfers, state ownership, local production) versus the Global North (mutual aid, political education, combating the labor aristocracy). She also reflects on the trap of electoral politics, the importance of disciplined organizing spaces, and why the US empire is inevitably going down swinging.
