Responding to the World's System
God is preparing a heavenly city! But how do we invest in that city? Jeremiah shares how our actions help build the city.
When there is disease, riots, and economic trouble, how does God rule? What does it look like? Judah wondered the same thing! Picture this: All the events the Prophet Jeremiah warned of had occurred. The people of Judah are sitting in exile with Jeremiah’s book in their hands. So they reflect: what does it mean that God rules? We are judged; what about these other nations? Is God harder on us because we are his people? No: God rules all nations!
Response to Chaos!
Following George Floyd’s death in May, we experienced weeks initially, of shock and grief; and then, for a time, chaos, grief, senseless violence. Some with an agenda to deliberately increase chaos and violence. How do we respond when all is shattered? This is what Judah experienced when Jerusalem collapsed after a year of Babylonian siege. Jeremiah 39 and 52 tell us of the fall, largely echoing the book of Kings. But then Jeremiah 40-44 gives us our only glimpse into the chaos after the fall of Jerusalem: how will Judah, who has struggled for faith, respond when everything falls apart?
Welcome Natasha Galyen as she shares her personal experiences and encourages the church to be the primary voice to address racial inequality while pointing people toward Jesus, the ultimate reconciler.
