Ep. 264 - Panic Button Engaged
Things are going very badly for the Seattle Kraken, who have lost five games in a row.
On this episode of the Sound Of Hockey Podcast, the guys officially engage the panic button and spend a good chunk of the show discussing the levers the team can still pull to salvage this season.
After plenty of passionate Kraken talk, John, Curtis, and Darren take a trip "Down on the Farm," then visit Goalie Gear Corner and eventually shift to Weekly One-Timers.

Ep. 263 - Featuring Blake Geoffrion and Sam Jefferies
This is a super fun and interesting episode that takes John and Darren back to their pre-Kraken days, when they were interviewing folks from all over the hockey world.
On this episode, they welcome Blake Geoffrion and Sam Jefferies, author of the new book, Legacy on Ice: Blake Geoffrion and the Fastest Game on Earth. Geoffrion has a fascinating story, so the guys discuss Blake's journey and why Sam decided to write a book about him.
Also in this episode, there's plenty of Kraken talk, including John, Darren, and Curtis breaking down the latest Seattle struggles and all that has happened in a very strange week in the NHL.

Ep. 261 - Vibes Are Bad (And We Recorded This BEFORE the Game in Edmonton)
The vibes of the Seattle Kraken are notably bad right now. They can't seem to buy themselves a win, and they're heading very much in the wrong direction.
The guys recorded this one before Wednesday's loss to Edmonton, and they were already feeling pretty down about how things had been going for Seattle.
In this episode, lots of discussion about what's wrong with the Kraken, but also lots of talk about what's been happening around the hockey world.
Segments include:

After the interview, they shift to segments, which this week feature:

SOH love
I was a bit of a podcast hater before listening to sound of hockey but now I need it for all my bus rides. I love when you go off the rails and love listening to old episodes from before I followed the kraken. Sound of hockey feels like a warm hug and is a great way for me to stay connected to the kraken especially when I am away at college on the east coast. If I had one request, I miss when an episode-relevant song would play out the show. Thank you for my favorite podcast and stick taps to Andy always.
Sound the Alarm?
Fresh off the game with Calgary, I was ruminating on what I saw happening on the ice. I joked with John in the common area that they were struggling, keeping the puck on the sticks because they must’ve bought the cheap Kmart tape, but really the past few games there’s been very little continuity in the Kraken play. There doesn’t seem to be any line that is truly working well together.
Give credit to the guys for playing hard, but individual effort is only providing moderate success. When they’re in the right place, and there is some fantastic play, but they are mostly looking like they’re just trying to keep the puck. The defense has been pretty good and I think Oleksiak is looking the best since he started with the team.
So now you have to ask yourself, is it the coaching and the system that the players are having a hard time with? Is it time to sound the alarm? While we are only two wins and two losses differential from last year, it looks a lot like the first year Kraken when they were all new. it will be interesting over the next couple of games to see how they react to yesterday‘s loss.
Keep up the good work. Your podcast is a great companion when I travel.
