Episode 205 - Featuring Alex Mandrycky, Newly Promoted AGM of the Seattle Kraken

Episode 205 - Featuring Alex Mandrycky, Newly Promoted AGM of the Seattle Kraken

Seattle Kraken Training Camp is almost here, and who better to talk to in the waning days of the offseason than Kraken assistant general manager Alex Mandrycky?!

John, Andy, and Darren interviewed Alex at Kraken Community Iceplex on the same morning the news of her promotion to AGM got announced. So, it's a bit of a celebratory conversation, but it also has plenty of substance. From offseason moves to the future of Mandrycky's role, it's a conversation that you will enjoy.

Aside from the interview, there's some Kraken news to discuss, as the guys get you ready for the new season. Plus, a WHL update and signings around the NHL.

After the Mandrycky interview, the guys shift to segments, which this week feature Goalie Gear Corner, Weekly One-Timers, and a surprise Let's Get Quizzical.

Episode 204 - Featuring Chris Peters

Episode 204 - Featuring Chris Peters

The boys got the band back together (sort of) by having Chris Peters on for his record fourth SOH Podcast interview. It's another wonky format for this show, as the episode revolves almost entirely around the interview, but there's lots of good stuff from Chris here.

Peters, the prospect guru for FloHockey.tv, gives his opinions on the Kraken prospect pool and his outlook for guys like Matty Beniers and Shane Wright. He has an interesting take on where he thinks Wright should play this coming season, which you may find controversial. But, he does give good reasoning to support his argument, which should provide good food for thought.

Sound Of Hockey will be back to its regular format for next week's show, but the guys think you'll really enjoy the interview with their good pal on this one.

Episode 203 - Featuring Yanni Gourde

Episode 203 - Featuring Yanni Gourde

As promised on the previous show, Episode 203 is a unique one, which welcomes a big-time guest in Seattle Kraken forward Yanni Gourde. With Darren on vacation this week, the interview makes up essentially the entire episode.

It's a fantastic interview that covers everything from Yanni getting selected by the Kraken to his first impressions of Seattle to what he would have done if he didn't make it in to the NHL.

John, Andy, and Darren had a great time talking to Yanni, and they think you're going to like this one.

    Episode 202 - A Quick Late-Summer Jaunt

    Episode 202 - A Quick Late-Summer Jaunt

This week's episode of the Sound Of Hockey Podcast is a quick one but a fun one. With minimal Kraken news to discuss, John, Andy, and Darren focus on the hockey world as a whole.

They start with a brief World Junior Championship discussion, then move to a WHL Update, which focuses on Portland's completion of its re-brand, which many folks have argued looks quite similar to Kraken colors.

Next, they move on to segments, which this week features Bad Boys, Goalie Gear Corner, Weekly One-Timers, and Tweets of the Week.

FYI, the next couple weeks will be a little different, with interviews being the focus, but there will still be content coming over that time.

Embarrassment rewrite 🤦‍♂️

I grew up in the Snoqualmie pass area, a small trucking town called Easton, no local hockey. So now when I want to be updated on what’s going on in the hockey world, I tune into the Sound of Hockey podcast. The guys are very informative and inclusive. It’s good to have a Kraken specific podcast, but the show also covers local happenings in the hockey community and what’s going on around the junior level and the NHL. I like the unique segments and sound effects, one in particular. Every time I listen I feel like the guys are in the car with me just hanging out talking puck, “checks backseat.” More in depth discussions on certain topics would be welcomed, but time constraints are holding them back! Great job guys!

A Shanty (or maybe just a poem I guess) for Our Lads

“As I searched the iTunes charts. I sought a cast to catch my line. The boys grabbed hold and joined the queue. On rotation they now reside.” “Andy and John and Darren speak well. And Alison bends my ear. These voices they teach the game with class. Though suffering goalie gear.” “The Kraken, it swims, it’s on its way. Its arms approach from below. Now Sound of Hockey is here to stay. Make time and enjoy the show!”- IdiotGuru (My apologies for the formatting. iTunes doesn’t seem to like hard returns.)
