One thing that’s never been attached to Paul is the label ‘normal’ – something he is totally aware of.  He definitely subscribes to being one of those mentioned the iconic ‘Think Different’ Apple commercial narrated by Steve Jobs in 1977:

“Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules.  You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do!”

His World Game-Changers podcast embraces a mutually-respectful conversational style, with guests that are deemed ‘Unsung Heroes’ – selfless, dedicated people that contribute to the betterment of the world, in whatever way they can…

What Is The Meaning Of Life? (2) - Paul D. Lowe & James Conroy-Finn

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast Paul continues his conversation with James Conroy-Finn about the meaning of life, specifically from a pragmatic point of view.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

Pragmatists were Americans & were opposed to the more navel gazing philosophers & did things because they were practical & had some intrinsic value to help them get through life. If you’re a deep thinker perhaps you gravitate more towards the abstract? There’s an unhealthy negativity around deep thinking & intellectualism, but I think if you do it the right way & are thoughtful, that’s a good thing. If you’re obsessive, you’re probably not doing things in moderation. Philosophy gets a bad rep, but every human being is fascinated by the big questions like where did we come from, why are we here, & why are things the way they are? We’re a curious species & we should celebrate that.
None of us experience reality in any true, objective sense. It’s an abstraction, an image our brains create & it only exists because it’s allowed us to survive & procreate as well as to identify threats.
We don’t see the universe for what it really is. We see an arrow of time, moving things forward, but it doesn’t seem that the universe cares about that, it’s not intrinsic to the universe, it’s something we add when we’re put into the equation. We shape the world around us & create stories. It’s an illusion.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘We’re all experiencing an hallucination, the difference between people that are sane & insane is that we agree on that hallucination.’

‘Our brains have tendencies to prefer certain shapes.’

‘We create meaning, the universe itself doesn’t.’

Financial Freedom: What Does It Really Mean? – Paul D. Lowe & Charlie Ephgrave

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast Paul talks to a brand new guest, Charlie Ephgrave, about how to achieve financial freedom & at what cost?

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

Time is such a valuable & important thing, but everybody has the same 24 hours & not everybody chooses to do the same things. It definitely highlights the people who are succeeding in life & the ones that are dragging behind. What you output is what you’ll get as an input, instead of focussing on how much you have to make doing this, or what am I going to do? Focus on the input & everything else will take care of itself. The output isn’t something we can necessarily control but the input & how you use time matter.
Financial freedom means you aren’t trading your time for money. It’s the appreciation & the comprehension that money is printed & you can’t print time. If something isn’t replicatable then you should hold onto it for dear life. Money is something that’s more of an ideology than something that’s actually valuable & something that we should chase.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘If you had the same amount of money as there are seconds in the day (86,400), would you let a person who ruined £10 of that, would you let that affect the rest of the pot?’

‘Each time we dwell on things from the past and we don’t appreciate what’s ahead of us is time spent poorly'.

‘You should utilise your money, time, love, food, exercise & relationships to benefits'.

‘Focus on what you want to achieve in life & you’ll get it'.

Challenging Conventional Thinking (5) - Paul D. Lowe & Nicole Bellisle

Challenging Conventional Thinking (5) - Paul D. Lowe & Nicole Bellisle

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul continues his conversation with Nicole Bellisle about challenging conventional thinking, this time around the pair discuss the power of music, its rhythm & energy, & they dissect playlists they have both compiled & why they chose those tracks.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

We have different musical tastes in terms of genre or when the songs came out, & that could be cultural or generational. But I also saw a lot of overlap in terms of themes; we both had songs about love, heartbreak, and loneliness, as well as cultural revolution or evolution of our humanity which was cool.
Music seems to be one of those things that transcends time & even place. If we look at the essence of our humanity, it’s such a representation of what moves us & what is most core to who & what we are. I believe that, at our core, we are love & music as a form of art is such an expression of that regardless of what the details of tone, lyrics or beat end up looking like in the complete rendition of the song.
Music is something that connects us all & speaks to us all, it’s universal, it’s non-polarising, it’s non-political, it’s something that we get to keep for ourselves & experience with one another. It also transcends any language barriers, we can feel moved, connect, and dance even if we can’t speak to one another. It’s one of the most magical, beautiful aspects of music.
There’s a rare air that, when we truly come together as co-creators with an intention to create something beautiful or something meaningful, so many lines up to make that happen. The product that falls out of the process has this way of being timeless & continues to give long after the birth actually happens.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘If we can come to accept something as pleasurable as musical diversity, maybe that’s a catalyst for being more accepting of other people’s thoughts & opinions.’
‘These songs might define our work or the sense of purpose that we feel. The way that music invites us into new possibilities & into change is a really worthwhile insight into this exercise.’
‘Music is something that can really unite us, which came up lyrically in ‘We Are the World’.’
‘Music for me is tied to specific memories or emotions & it can serve as a map of my life, of where I was in my own evolution.’

What Is The Meaning Of Life? (1) – Paul D. Lowe & James Conroy-Finn

What Is The Meaning Of Life? (1) – Paul D. Lowe & James Conroy-Finn

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast Paul talks to James Conroy-Finn about music, labeling & how it all relates to the meaning of life.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

Labels can be valuable. I’ve had friends diagnosed with ADHD who has found this useful. Perhaps they don’t experience all of the symptoms that other people that have been labelled with ADHD might experience, but it gives them some structure & ideal of where they fit in to the universe & why they may have struggled at school, for example, where they may have been labelled a naughty child.
Every human being, regardless of culture, potentially has an ingrained appreciation for the structure of music & the relationship between notes. Some of that comes down to biology & the way our brains work to interpret those signals, as it responds in certain ways to certain frequencies. Layering culture on top makes it more fascinating.
Our musical taste doesn’t change that much after our formative years. The music we tend to love the most is the stuff that we listened to as teenagers because we’ve formed a connection to it: Your first kiss, first car, exam results, those major life events are often associated with some piece of music which can take you back to that place. Later in life we have less of a tendency to explore as much and find those songs, which comes back to the brain.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘Our sense of smell can take us back to a place in our past, & so can music'.

‘The correct state of the brain is the teenage brain, we should be a little bit more willing to take risks, things should be a little bit more exciting & passionate'.

‘You’ve got to put in the work. If you do put in the work & you invest in yourself you will come out better at the end of it, but it’s scary, it’s daunting to face that demon directly in the eyes & try to challenge it'.

‘I’m not a huge fan of the term ‘genius’, I think often it diminishes the effort that people put into the work that they do'.

Challenging Conventional Thinking (4) – Paul D. Lowe & Nicole Bellisle

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast, Paul continues his conversation with Nicole Bellisle about challenging conventional thinking, this time around the pair discuss Nicole’s bias towards non-conventionalism, whether this means advancement & ask if this is a driver to try new ways of doing things in all aspects of life, or if she is pushing beyond what’s really true for her.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

When impulses to do the unconventional thing, or to go against or question the status quo come up, take a moment to pause and ask: “Why am I doing this?” Most of the time, I am rebelling and moving away from the status quo because I see something that’s broken in many of the systems in which we are living & the cultural rules or patterns that we’ve been operating from. So, my intentions are good – looking for the possibility for more love, ease, connection & abundance.
Each new generation is a disruptor in the fact of the status quo & wants to push the boundaries & test things. We see this in young children in the earliest stages of development & I’ve witnessed this in myself in my late teenage years through my 20s. In my early 30s was when I started to settle into a level of comfort around the uncertainty & knowing I can push the boundaries and go into the edges, but I can be choosier now of which edges I go into & why & make sure they’re true for me.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘We need to move away from selfish individualism or ego & into something that’s more generous & reciprocal'.‘I have a drive towards being different & doing the thing that causes me to stand out. To some extent that can come from the ego, so it’s something to be aware of'.‘I admire Gen Z, they’re pushing edges that I had never even dreamed of pushing. I’m learning so much from the disruption that generation is inviting into our collective field. I’m rooting them on'.

Challenging Conventional Thinking (3) – Paul D. Lowe & Nicole Bellisle

On this episode of the World Game-Changers podcast Paul continues his conversation with Nicole Bellisle about challenging conventional thinking; this time around the pair discussing lifestyle in a holistic sense & Nicole’s drive to be generally unconventional.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

There’s an inner, rebellious, teenager – in a way – that drives me to be an individualist & different from my peers or my parents. Especially when I was younger, if I didn’t differentiate myself, express myself differently or do the non-conventional thing, not only did I feel a bit trapped but I felt a fear of not being enough, not standing out, not being wanted. It’s really deep wound for me. Even now, in my business, I do hold tenderly this awareness & love for this inner child.
I still really enjoy bringing the different thought or perspective to the table or asking the question that challenges the status quo. I’ve learned to do that from a place that’s more heart-centred & less ego-driven. I’m looking for the parts of our systems or culture that are harmful or broken or where I see something is missing & could be more whole and regenerative.

    BEST MOMENTS

‘I have this real drive to pilot new ways of doing things in all areas of my life. It shows up in how I visualise my future family, how I run my company & connect that with my broader holistic lifestyle'.

‘I get a lot of my inspiration from nature & biomimicry as well as some indigenous knowledge systems'.

‘I look for decisions where my feet are moving before I even realise it, action is being taken almost subconsciously'.
