Max Boot is a historian, best-selling author and foreign-policy analyst who has been called one of the “world’s leading authorities on armed conflict” by the International Institute for Strategic Studies. He is the Jeane J. Kirkpatrick senior fellow in national security studies at the Council on Foreign Relations and a columnist for The Washington Post.

TPR’s Speaking Globally - ”Women in Global Conflicts” with Dr. Alexis Henshaw - Troy University
Today's conversation is about the substantial role of women as both fighters and negotiators in conflicts around the globe. Host Walter Givhan is joined by Troy University professor Dr. Alexis Henshaw to discuss this often overlooked aspect of war that leaves her asking, "Where are the women?"
Henshaw is the author of Why Women Rebel: Understanding Women’s Participation in Armed Rebel Groups and co-author of Insurgent Women: Female Combatants in Civil Wars.
She has authored reports for the U.S. Army's Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute and the Centre for Women, Peace, and Security at the London School of Economics.
Henshaw is also an associate fellow with the Global Network on Extremism and Technology and has consulted with UN Women, the UN Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate, and a variety of other organizations.
She is currently an assistant professor at Troy University in the political science department.

Today's conversation is about the state of Ukraine after the invasion by Russia. Host Walter Givhan is joined again by Dr. Ralph Clem, an expert on the region, to discuss the invasion, sanctions imposed on Russia, and where things might go in the future.
Clem holds the MA and PhD from Columbia University, in geography, with a concentration in Soviet studies. A geographer, he is the co-editor of seven books, including, most recently, Political Geographies of the Post-Soviet Union. He also frequently publishes blog posts, recently concentrated on Russia, Ukraine, and international security issues.
Clem has testified on over 75 occasions as an expert witness in United States Immigration Courts in matters involving asylum-seekers from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
