The Conspiracy Thickens for Picard - S1 E2

Picard begins to unravel a conspiracy that extends to the highest levels of Starfleet. We see that Narek is an essential part of this plan, working to gain Daaj's sister Sojis trust in order to get information out of her. Picard looks to be reinstated in Starfleet and given a small crew, requests that are denied. He begins to assemble a crew of his own. We also learn more about the Romulans reclamation project on the Borg Cube, namely that it is populated with still-sentient beings who were formerly part of the Borg collective. We learn a little more about the incident on Mars 14 years ago where the synthetic life forms went rogue and destroyed the settlement there. Jean Luc's doctor lets him know that he has a condition that will ultimately kill him.

Picard is Back and is Ready To Engage - S1 E1

Picard is Back and is Ready To Engage - S1 E1

Years after leaving Starfleet, a retired Jean-Luc Picard tends to his home far removed from the cosmos. This Picard is much older, solemn and has trouble sleeping, but he's very much the same Jean-Luc Star Trek fans have come to know and love from the earlier Star Trek: The Next Generation series. When Dahj, a mysterious individual with a hidden past appears at Jean-Luc's doorstep asking for his help, Picard offers to help her find the peace she is so desperately seeking. They share a common bond in Data, Picard's friend and confidant from their time served on the Enterprise.

Hsoted by Kari Lane, Frank Moran, and Christian Bladt, the team will be breaking down each episode of Star Trek Discovery during the seasons, and in the off time covering classic episodes and topics related to the Star Trek Universe year round!ABOUT STAR TREK DISCOVERY:Star Trek: Discovery is an American television series created for CBS All Access by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman. It is the first series developed specifically for that service, and the first Star Trek series since Star Trek: Enterprise concluded in 2005. Set roughly a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series and separate from the timeline of the concurrent feature films, Discovery explores the Federation–Klingon cold war while following the crew of the USS Discovery. Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts serve as showrunners on the series, with producing support from Akiva Goldsman.Sonequa Martin-Green stars as Michael Burnham, the first officer of the USS Shenzhou and later the USS Discovery. The new series was announced in November 2015, and Fuller joined as showrunner the next February. In addition to Fuller and Kurtzman, who wrote for previous Star Trek series and films, respectively, the crew includes several other previous Star Trek creatives. Fuller wanted to make an anthology series, beginning with a prequel season to the original series, but CBS asked that he make a single serialized show first. In October 2016, after further disagreements with CBS and struggles with other commitments, Fuller left the series. Berg and Harberts took over day-to-day production using a mythology and broad story arc established by Fuller, while Goldsman joined then as support. The production put emphasis on carrying on the legacy of the previous series, including making efforts to feature a diverse cast. The values and designs of the Federation were updated for the series, but were expected to evolve towards those of the original series throughout Discovery's run. The show also heavily features the Klingon species, with the intent of exploring the central conflict from both perspectives. The Klingons were redesigned for the series, with influence from their previous appearances, the original inspirations for the species, and the novel The Final Reflection, as well as research on biology and evolution. The Klingon language is also extensively used. Discovery is filming in Toronto, and has filmed on location in Jordan.Follow us on http://www.Twitter.com/AfterBuzzTV"Like" Us on http://www.Facebook.com/AfterBuzzTVBuy Merch at http://shop.spreadshirt.com/AfterbuzzTV/

Good podcast

I would give it 5 stars but putting out each episode a week late is super annoying.

Picard After-Show

I think the host is good, & knows his stuff well. However, he & the panelists often seem to be judging the program on what they want it to be, rather than what it is.

The showrunners have said that Picard is meant to be slower, & that it is not a reboot of TNG. It is taking its time setting up this world & these people in it. There is quite a lot going on in the details. I don’t think the Aftershow participants here are giving the program near enough credit for what it is successfully doing with both world-building & characterization. More plot movement may come later, but we need to understand this new setting & its people first.

Also, Picard is serialized, & many things unexplained now, may be made clear later. Nitpicking, grousing, & complaining doesn’t make a fun experience for me. If the participants don’t enjoy this program, that’s fine. Perhaps some who do can join up as counterpoints.

I’m very disappointed. Aftershows are some of my favorite podcasts in other programming. I’m hoping for much better from this one in the future. Thank you.

So lucky to be a part of this

Star Trek Discovery is such a rich show and I’m more than grateful for having the opportunity to discuss each episode in detail. Who doesn’t like a little adventure?
