2:35 🗨️ The Power of Smiling & Laughter! [Divorce Diaries Comedienne, Michele Traina]

2:35 🗨️ The Power of Smiling & Laughter! [Divorce Diaries Comedienne, Michele Traina]

Who needs some COMIC RELIEF!? I know you do! Here it is. You're welcome.

We talk a lot about many serious topics here at Starting over Stronger, on the blog and on the podcast. We know there are so many important topics to cover as you divorce. It’s a tough season to get through and being knowledgeable and confident about the decisions you must make is critical! But do you know what else is critical?
HAVING FUN! Smiling. Laughing. Seeing the positives in life. Enjoying the new space in your life that your divorce has hopefully or will eventually hopefully have created for you. Space where maybe there used to be arguing and tension, and what better than to replace that space with all the good things in life!!
I am share Michele Traina with you. She is a comedienne and host of the Divorce Diaries Show, stand-up comedy just for you! In episode 2:35 of the Starting Over Stronger Divorce Survival & Recovery Podcast, Michele and I share our take on The Power of Smiling and Laughter.
Annie & Michele do Stand Up
Annie shared a few corny jokes like this one from the "interwebs" and she hopes they make you laugh, or at least smile WHILE you are rolling your eyes.
Q: "What do a hurricane, a tornado, a fire, and a divorce have in common?
A: They are four ways you can lose your house!”
After sharing these, Michele shared some of her latest jokes or funny stories she is gearing up to use in her stand-up Divorce Diaries Comedy Tour! Click LISTEN NOW above to hear them all.
We also talked through some benefits of smiling and laughter because who doesn’t need more of both before, during and after a divorce!?
    Benefits of Smiling & Laughter
    ·         Stress relief
    ·         Elevated mood
    ·         Immunity booster (and who doesn't need that in this crazy world!?)
    ·         May lower blood pressure and reduce pain
    ·         Smiling makes you more attractive (as opposed to alcohol which just makes OTHER people look more attractive)
    ·         Makes you look more successful, approachable and likable
    ·         Helps you stay positive
    ·         Smiling makes laughter come easier
    ·         Your relationships may even improve!
    Ask Yourself 4 Things
When you just aren’t feeling it but you know you need more smiles and laughter, learn to ask yourself these 4 questions. Are you… Hungry? Angry? Lonely? Tired?
If you are experiencing one of these, “HALT” and go eat, vent, connect or rest, then see how much easier those smiles and laughter come! Here are a few more ways to increase your joy:
    ·         Fake it ‘til You Make It: Did you know even a fake smile can increase happiness? The first step to being happier is smiling even when you don’t feel like it.
    ·         Look Around, People: One of my favorite comedians is known for saying that people ask him all the time where he comes up with his material and he just has that hmmm… uh, duhh look on his face as he waves his right hand one way and his left hand the other and slowly says, “Look around, people. I just live my life and take good notes!” I love that!
What a fun topic this has been to explore! Tune in to the Starting Over Stronger Show by clicking the LISTEN NOW above. Listen to the show, then follow Divorce Diaries on Instagram to see where Michele is going to pop up next!
Coming in 2022, Starting Over Stronger will be hosting Divorce Recovery Retreats and today’s fun guest, Michele Traina, is going to be a part of bringing smiles and laughter to our retreat gues

2:33 💼 The Power of Knowledge: Financial Abu$e EXPO$ED [CDFA Jen Lawrence]

2:33 💼 The Power of Knowledge: Financial Abu$e EXPO$ED [CDFA Jen Lawrence]

Today's guest is CDFA Jen Lawrence who is here to talk about a pressing subject for many of my divorce coaching clients-- Financial Abuse.

This is a pressing subject many of my divorce coaching. Most people don't call it that though. They don't know to. Instead, they say:
    ·         "I have no idea how much money he makes"
    ·         "He doesn't let me touch the accounts"
    ·         "I get an allowance each week and that is all I can spend"
    ·         "He won't let me work"
    ·         “He sabotages every effort I've ever made to begin a career"
    ·         "It's HIS money"
    ·         and more...
If you've heard statements like that for years, you may be experiencing financial abuse, especially if when this comes to your attention and you try to discuss it with them and let them know you would like to take a more active role, and they are opposed to it or absolutely refuse to assist in that.
CDFA and Guest Speaker on the Starting Over Stronger Divorce Survival and Recovery Podcast, Jen Lawrence, explored this topic with me.

2:32 ⚓️ Parental Alienation PART 2: What We Can Do About it [SOS Survivor, Regina]

2:32 ⚓️ Parental Alienation PART 2: What We Can Do About it [SOS Survivor, Regina]

Today, Regina and I are going to pick up where we left off last week. If you haven't heard her story on episode 2:31, pause this and go listen to that first! It will bring to life everything we are going to discuss today on this difficult subject. She overcame a lot of fear to be here to share her heartbreaking story that, right now anyway, does not have a happy ending, so that you can know you are not alone if you are facing something similar, and so we can talk about what CAN be done about it. Regina and I agree that Parental Alienation needs to better and more consistently recognized and stopped in our court system, with attorneys and with the abusers who use it as their favorite weapon against a partner who finally said no to their abuse.

If you heard the recent interview with a DV Judge, you understand there is a lot of work to do in our court system to stop silencing the voices of good mothers who are being drowned out by abusive men who use the courts to further their abuse and whose (sometimes) unscrupulous attorneys who seem to either gladly or powerlessly go along with it.

Please tune in and hear Regina's story and today's Part 2 about what we can do. Let it compel you to do anything and everything you can to make sure it doesn't happen to you, or any other woman, ever again.

If you have any questions at all during your divorce, please email Annie@StartingOverStronger.com or visit www.StartingOverStronger.com to learn more about divorce coaching and book a complimentary discovery call while you're there.  "Can I keep the house?"

I am excited today to bring you this difficult subject straight from the heart and mind of a woman currently in the throes of it. Her story is every woman... every mother's... greatest fear in divorce. She is here to share it so that (in next week's episode) we can talk about what can be done about it. Please tune in now to hear Regina's story and then join us again next week to get all the specifics which will compel you to do anything and everything you can to make sure it doesn't happen to you, or any other woman, ever again.

Wish more directed to listeners

I found this emphasis on the story of the guest took too much of the episode. Was looking for information about the process of telling our story

Just stating the obvious ,

What I wish I knew

This is a great resource guide for the gut wrenching process divorce is. Most days you can’t even think straight. I wish I had a guide like this as I made my exit from my marriage. Thank you Annie and all your contributors for a road map and a great resource!
