    Chapter 8 - Taylor McAllister (Episode 3)

    Chapter 8 - Taylor McAllister (Episode 3)

“Death investigation requires strict adherence to guidelines. Investigators must search for clues that identify a death as natural, suicide or homicide. In the case of homicide, investigators must carefully collect evidence to help identify suspects and convict murderers.”

As we’ve seen with many cases in the past, when we discuss cases that have lingering questions, cold cases, or those closed prematurely; we see a pattern with those cases not being properly secured or investigated. Was this case properly investigated?

What happens when the perpetrator(s) are never charged? What happens when there is plenty of evidence and EVERYONE knows who did it - but THOSE people are not serving time for the murder?

To round out this chapter; Scott and Heather break down the case of 22-year-old Taylor Anne McAllister with their own observations.

    Chapter 8 - Taylor McAllister (Episode 2)

    Chapter 8 - Taylor McAllister (Episode 2)

According to Leslie McAllister, Taylor was one of five children; the second oldest of the McAllister kids. Nothing traumatic occurred in her early years that would have triggered her to become addicted to drugs. So, how did Taylor end up on the path that led her to meeting the individuals who would eventually confess to their involvement in her death?

As you heard in episode 1 of this chapter, Taylor Anne McAllister was only 22-years-old when she lost her life. You also heard, briefly, how much she enjoyed music; singing and playing guitar. In episode 2, you will have the opportunity to hear from those who knew her better than anyone; her parents Leslie and Bill McAllister. You will hear all about Taylor’s personality, passions, interests, love of her family and music. You will also hear about the decisions that led Taylor to abusing drugs at one point in her very short life.

Leslie and Bill McAllister share their experiences from raising their daughter into a beautiful young woman and then letting her fly on her own as an adult. They also share with us; the details surrounding her introduction to prescription drugs, her experiences with drugs and rehab, her battles that followed, her introduction to Robert Henry Butler III, her death, the investigation, and where the case is today.

We are extremely grateful to Leslie and Bill for being able to share Taylor’s story with us. We know that it couldn’t have been easy - especially hearing and reading what others have said about their daughter.

One thing we urge listeners to remember is: one decision (good or bad) does not define you. That is not who you are as a person. It was a decision and a part of your story, but it is not who you are.

    Chapter 8 - Taylor McAllister (Episode 1)

    Chapter 8 - Taylor McAllister (Episode 1)

December, 2016. The Sunshine State. St. Petersburg, Florida; a vacation destination for most. But not all. Like many other bustling U.S. cities, St. Petersburg has its dark spots as well. And for one man; he was about to see firsthand, just how dark this area can be.

It was about 7:30am on the morning of December 22, 2016 - just three days before Christmas, when he stumbled upon the deceased body of 22-year-old Taylor Anne McAllister. She was dumped in an alley located at 2102 63rd Avenue South in Pinellas County. Discarded as if she were trash. She was lying there with nothing by a gray t-shirt pulled up around her neck. The condition that her body was in made it clear to investigators AND the medical examiner that this was homicide.

However, to this day; despite confessions from those involved in her death having been made, nobody has been charged with homicide in her death.

    Dossier 5 (Joseph Miranda)

    Dossier 5 (Joseph Miranda)

It was 2006 and 19-year-old Joseph Miranda was working at a landscape company in Maryland, called Outside Unlimited. It was nearing the end of his shift and he was ready to head out and meet up with some friends. However, it was summer time and his company was working on some major landscaping projects with deadlines. So, his supervisor asked him to finish up one more task so that he would be ahead of the game for his shift the following morning. That’s when everything changed. Joseph attempted to complete the task but there was one Bobcat in the yard, and it was already in use by another employee. So, Joseph talked to the driver on the Bobcat and decided to wait his turn. It was a normal day, nothing out of the ordinary, really; and Joseph didn’t know that waiting to complete this particular task would turn deadly.

Was it a tragic workplace accident? Perhaps; as that’s what was initially reported. The medical examiner ended up changing the manner of death from accidental to homicide by assault. So, was it something more sinister? More intentional?

Special thanks to Adrienne Miranda (Joseph’s mother)
Special thanks to Damian (Joseph’s uncle)

    Chapter 7 - Episode 4 (Tawnya D Knight)

After the release of Chapter 7, we received a message from the county sheriff's detective who worked the Tawnya Knight disappearance, and later her murder case.

He's since retired, but he very generously agreed to an interview on the record to tell "the rest of the story" of the homicide investigation.

Promising at first

I love Scott’s journalism, first hearing his work in “Cold”. All of those episodes were engaging. My first issue with this podcast is his co-host who is so frustrating to listen to. She sounds half asleep and like she’s reading from a textbook. I also don’t find her expertise to be apparent. Many of the episodes are bizarre informational interruptions. I can’t discern the reason for this. Sure, some of the info is pertinent but rarely is it tied to the actual victim or case (ahem Jade’s dossier). I bail when this starts going on. Polish this podcast up and it could be a winner!

👍👍👏🏻❤️

I’ve had this podcast in my subscribed list for quite awhile and just decided to listen. I am immersed!
Scott portrays a clear picture through details that are easily followed. A lot of podcasts give details, but you have to really pay attention and put 2 and 2 together; this podcast flows and you just float along as thoughts of the case flood your mind! Great job!
