Ep 19: Working Through Shame to Discover Who You Are with Kira Yakubov, LMFT

Ep 19: Working Through Shame to Discover Who You Are with Kira Yakubov, LMFT

We're talking with Kira Yakubov, LMFT, and one of our returning Support Group Leaders from November 2019's support group + workshop in Philadelphia, "Coping with Recurring Stress & Tackling Pressures Head On."
Kira is an Individual, Couples, and Sex Therapist helping others struggling with anxiety, self-worth, relational distress, and cross cultural challenges gain powerful insight to living an authentic life.  In this episode, we focus on understanding SHAME and working to get past shame and confusion of being something or doing something you're not.  At a young age, Kira and her family came to America as refugees from the Soviet Union, a dangerous time during its fall.  For her, strong feelings of shame began as a child being raised in a culture oppressive towards women's roles and sexuality, and for herself, feeling that something was wrong with her for wanting to rebel against the gender-stereotype.  In a culture where mental health may not be understood well, through her work, Kira now helps others heal with self-acceptance and support in understanding feelings of being misunderstood.

In this episode, you'll hear from Kira on...
-Shame and How it Can Develop Into Other Mental Health Concerns
    -Guilt vs. Shame
-Her Self-Discovery Journey in Recognizing Her Value to Recognize Your Worth Past One Identity
-Relationship Dynamics (Toxic vs. Healthy) & Vocalizing Boundaries
-Establishing your Self-Empowerment When Others Don't Agree or Support You
    ...and so much more.

*Kira also explores the Therapy Process with an inside perspective on therapy sessions focused on relationships.  Visit kirayakubov.com to schedule a Free Intro Call, schedule a session, and learn more about Kira's offerings.

Ep 18: Unmasking Who You Are Through Conscious Wellness w/ Tara Haislip, Wellness Consultant

Ep 18: Unmasking Who You Are Through Conscious Wellness w/ Tara Haislip, Wellness Consultant

A Still Standing Podcast Exclusive with guest, Tara Haislip, Certified Nutrition & Wellness Consultant, and Founder of TenHealth and Wellness, an online nutrition and wellness consulting practice.
Tara opens up about stories from childhood to her time in college and transitioning post-college -- a period of her life where she was angry and aggressive to be heard.  Not knowing who to turn to, Tara turned to alcohol to numb what she was feeling.  She was attracting unhealthy situations, negative and toxic relationships, and used sex to cope with a poor self-image.  After suffering an injury early in her dance career, she felt everything was spiraling and realized something had to change.  Her healing process included nutrition and holistic fitness practices, but, most importantly, started with fulfilling her emotional and spiritual needs. It was then she discovered her passion for wanting to help others live healthier lives. In 2017, she created TENHealth & Wellness, teaching clients to manage their health through nutrition and lifestyle changes.

"Every new day is another opportunity to start over."
Tara Haislip, Certified Nutrition & Wellness Consultant

In this episode, you'll hear from Tara on...
-Addressing the Emotional Relationship with Yourself: How Emotions Manifest Through the Outside (symptoms like Rosacea, back pain, intestinal issues, etc)
-Ways to Pick Yourself Up When You're Feeling Lost or Pull Yourself Out of a Downward Spiral
-Vulnerability: Accepting Help to Break Patterns that are Hurting Us
-Balance of Conscious Wellness & Nutrition when Panic Sets In
-A Breakdown to Better Understanding Law of Attraction and Manifesting
    ...and so much more.
