Episode 87: "We'll Be Alright" with Folk-Indie Artist Gabrielle Grace

Rhythms greatly matter to me, not just the ones we love in listening to catchy music, but the ones practice in our everyday lives. Ironically, one of my favorite annual rhythms is actually marriage of these two things, music and life. Every episode of ‘Still With You’ is accompanied by a song that is not selected by random, but is shared on purpose for the specific season. Annually, God highlights a song from one of my artist friends, that moves me to closer to Him and I believe this because the words of this song first moved Him.

I could not be more honored to be featuring Folk-Indie Artist Gabrielle Grace’s song “We’ll Be Alright” as the theme music for Season 4 of the podcast. The first time I heard this single I felt its warm words of hope wrap around me like a favorite blanket. It’s message rivets with vision and delight for bright days ahead, while also acknowledging life’s presence grief. I do believe we can learn to hold both. ✨ I am so thankful for this amazing friend sharing her music with us. Gabrielle is an incredible, generous human being, and beautiful creative artist.

Born and raised in a small town in southeast Texas before moving to Nashville, Tennessee, Gabrielle is a singer-songwriter who is committed to telling stories. She believes authenticity and honesty are one of the most important qualities when it comes to music. She released her debut album, “This Beautiful Life” in February of 2019 and is releasing her six song EP “We’ll Be Alright” on March 5th 2021.

In this conversation with Gabrielle we talk all about this new project as well as her journey of moving to Nashville. Spoiler, this move was not about music! What I love most about Gabrielle is her heart for loving the heck out of people and doing it so well through all of her work.

Their is so much to share in this episode that feels incredibly sacred. Please welcome to ‘Still With You’ a friend whose words genuinely remind me of hope ahead, Gabrielle Grace.

Episode 86: Surviving Abuse and Finding Beautiful Courage with Isami Daehn 勇美

Episode 86: Surviving Abuse and Finding Beautiful Courage with Isami Daehn 勇美

CPC-certified Relationship Coach, Isami Daehn 勇美, carries a passion for empowering millennials and GEN-Z through relationship pain to find their voice after estrangement. Why estrangement empowerment? Have you ever though you would head those two words in the same sentence? I have not and neither had Isami.

Being raise in a home where physical and verbal abuse were “normal”, after becoming an adult, moving from Japan to to the United States, Isami’s relationship with her parents did not get any better. It unfortunately grew worse and in 2017 she became permanently estranged from her parents.

After spending most of her life surviving abuse and to fix broken relationships she truly believed she was “not good enough”, still striving to meet someone else’s unrealistic expectations of who she as “supposed to be”. She continually blamed herself for the brokenness she felt.

In my conversation with Isami she shares her story of hard work and healing by discovering her true identity in Jesus Christ. From graves to gardens, she today is free from her from pain and finding new beautiful courage within herself everyday.

My favorite moment in my chat with Isami is how she describes hearing from Holy Spirit. Hold on to your hearts! It moves me to tears every time I listen.🖤

Episode 85: "Uprooting Religion, Growing in Relationship" with Laura Lambert

Episode 85: "Uprooting Religion, Growing in Relationship" with Laura Lambert

Have you ever felt like you were not doing enough for God? Do you believe you are failing to reach what you believe God expects from you? You may have heard the phrase “relationship over religion” , three words that attempt to share the true nature of God. He is not a God who rules with an angry fist nor lays our harsh rules demanding we work to earn His acceptance and attention. There are not enough words in any language able capture how the Lord pours out His unfailing love upon us (Psalm 42:18). Yet, so often we formulate ideas of what we believe God needs from us.

Laura Lambert is a blogger, podcaster, and speaker based near Nashville, Tennessee. She was raised in home where Jesus was center and truly believed her Heavenly Father truly loved her. Yet, now in her adult life she found herself questioning her faith and realized was focusing on what was "right" and "wrong" rather than resting in communion with God.

Everything bloomed when Laura allowed God to weed out religion and hydrate her exhausted heart with real relationship. She even started a podcast where she could talk honestly and encourage others about what she is learning along the journey!

Episode 84: Our Military Love Story, Chris + Kohlie Browning

Episode 84: Our Military Love Story, Chris + Kohlie Browning

One of the most common questions my husband, Chris, and I are asked is, “how did both of you meet?”. While we love sharing, it is not always easy, because our love story is involves a lot of CRAZY twists and turns that only God could write.

From a quaint hardware store to crashing into a deer. Spending over 265 days apart in Romania, saying ‘I do’ in dress blues, and then immediate having to move. The many details of our military love story are too much for a simple post on social media.

This year as Chris and I celebrate five years of being married 🥂 we are continuing to learn that life is not easy, but God is always faith and true. We chose to love because He loved us first and we praise for Him for allowing us to share this brief time on earth spent together!

May our anything-but-perfect-all-beacause-of-Jesus story encourage you in every way that God has not left you alone in your current season. His hand is on every part! He wants to heal your heart!

With love from the Brownings ♥️ xoxo

Episode 83: Learning How to Hear God's Voice with Katie Haskell

Episode 83: Learning How to Hear God's Voice with Katie Haskell

Have you ever heard someone utter, “I feel like the Lord is telling me…” or “I was praying and I heard the Lord say…”? Perhaps, you have heard your Pastor or a friend describe their own personal experiences in listening to God’s voice? Rather than feeling 100% encouraged by these incredible stories, chances are you have questions…

    How does God speak?

What does His voice sound like?

How can I tell God is talking and I am not making up words in my mind?

I want to hear God speak for myself, not just from my peers.

If you have ever had one of these thoughts this episode is for YOU! Who better to share this conversation with me than Katie Haskell?

Katie Haskell is a prophetic voice and teacher based in Nashville, Tennessee. Before God called her to ministry, Katie worked for more than a decade in the entertainment industry. She has since traveled the world following the voice of God, speaking and ministering to groups and in schools and churches. Katie has taught hundreds of students around the world through her online courses in which she mentors, trains and equips emerging voices and individuals who want to learn how to hear the voice of God for themselves and others.

Episode 82: “Victory is Near” with Behind the Bliss Podcast Host Rachel Awtrey

Episode 82: “Victory is Near” with Behind the Bliss Podcast Host Rachel Awtrey

Rachel Awtrey is an online encourager and podcaster in Birmingham, Alabama. She spends most of her time connecting with her friends online encouraging them to seek Jesus in small and large ways. She is the host of the Behind the Bliss, a top-rated podcast, which creates space for women to share stories and their reality of what life is really like behind the bliss so that others might experience an “oh yeah, me too” moment. She and her loyal, loving, BTB listeners (myself included!!) believe there is power in vulnerability, sharing the hard and pretty parts of our life. Revealing the story behind your highlight reel requires true bravery, but it’s not about doing it well all at once rather being obedient in your next step.

Though Rachel loves sharing stories of other encouragers, Mack Brock, Kari Jobe, and Chrystal Evans Hurst – just to name a few guests featured Behind the Bliss, she also is carrying a story of her own! As this episode releases Rachel and her husband Thomas are less than two months away from meeting their first child. Not only are we praising God for the miracle of this baby, but we are also honoring Him for working in the waiting.

As I speak with Rachel about overcoming infertility and, of course, beginning Behind the Bliss, I want to approach this subject with sincere sensitivity to those of you who might be praying through a similar journey. A few of the phrases and subjects mentioned might be an unwanted reminder of past traumas involving pregnancy. Please know you are not alone, may Rachel’s story of how God met her in the mess be a bright hope to you! 🤍

It is an honor to chat with Rachel on ‘Still With You’. She is a friend I love to turn to for fun and practical advice + helpful tips. If you are in the middle praying while waiting this conversation is for you. Your victory is near!
