Episode 123: See You At the Pole with National Field Director Doug Clark

See You At the Pole, the global day of student prayer, is an annual gathering that began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten Texas students praying at their school. Decades later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.

If you have seen students coming together praying at a school flag pole this is See You at the Pole in action! It is simply a prayer rally where students meet before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.

Today on the Still With You we have the honoring of hearing from one of my favorite leaders, See You At the Pole National Field Director Doug Clark.

As National Field Director, Doug serves as promotion coordinator for See You at the Pole, is involved in networking in San Diego locally, and helps lead a dynamic team of field leaders who currently serve hundreds of local networks in 10 regions across the US. With is life-dedication to youth ministry is he more than qualified to present the history of this incredible prayer movement and share the hype for how each of us can participate in praying over this year’s SYATP event occurring on September 28th.

I hope you enjoy every moment of this conversation and are encouraged to pray with conviction now more than ever for the upcoming generation!! Prayer works and it connects us to Jesus! Here is National Field Director of See You at the Pole, our friend, Doug Clark.

Episode 122: Two Hundred Tuesdays with Dianne Derby

Episode 122: Two Hundred Tuesdays with Dianne Derby

When Emmy award-winning journalist, KOAA News5 co-anchor, Dianne Derby, arrived as a news anchor in Colorado Springs, she was hungry for approval, affirmation, and connections. She raced from one event to the next, capturing stories, sound bites, but past the microphone she deeply struggled in feeling fulfilled.

Everything changed when she met centenarian Jim Downing at a luncheon for World War II veterans. At the time, U.S. Navy Veteran, Lieutenant Jim Downing, was the second-oldest living survivor of Pearl Harbor. At the luncheon Jim asked Dianne an important question that would set the tone for the start of their friendship. Jim shared, “Would you like to meet the most fulfilled person you’ll ever know? You’re looking at him.”

For the next five years Dianne and Jim began meeting every Tuesday, where eventually she invited her followers into their dialogues with dozens of videos on Facebook Live, where viewers could learn from Jim just as she had. With thousands of views, the chats struck a chord with people who were hungry for a meaningful life. Over the course of five years, Jim taught Dianne Derby to slow down; to embrace only what is true, real, and good; and to live a life of significance. Dianne was asked to deliver the eulogy at Jim’s funeral when he passed away in February 2018 at age 104. His memorial service was broadcasted across the the world for thousands to honor his legacy.

Jim’s faith and life lessons live on in Dianne’s stories, her friendships, and the significance of her work as a journalist, a mother, a wife, and a follower of Christ.

Her first book, “Two Hundred Tuesdays: What a Pearl Harbor Survivor Taught Me About Life, Love, and Faith” is the story of how Tuesday meetings about friendship, leadership, mentoring, parenting, and marriage—and the sacred thread through it all—led to an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.

Two Hundred Tuesdays releases next week Tuesday May 17th, but you can preorder your copy today!

You must observe her portfolio, clearly, she has an anointed gift in honoring God and people with her camera lens.

May 2018, Meshali purchased an 1886 farmhouse and began documenting restorative process, noticing how closely it paralleled her personal story of restoration. This project and movement, “A House God is Building”, is now being carried across the nation into hearts of people who desperately need to be reminded of the restorative, transforming power of Christ’s love.

You are going to love this conversation covering fun Tractor Supply fashion finds, the book writing process, and practical ways to help you honor God through your home! Episode 120: Bear Fruit Bowls & Coffee Owner and Founder Ryan Ford

Episode 120: Bear Fruit Bowls & Coffee Owner and Founder Ryan Ford

Located on beautiful Pensacola Beach, Bear Fruit Bowls and Coffee was started with an idea and dream to inspire people to bear fruit in their lives. What does it mean to bear fruit? Founders and owners, Ryan and Alexis Ford believe this depends specifically on each person's own life but ultimately it comes down to three essential pillars: peace, love, and joy. Their hope is when you walk into the shop space you can feel all three pillars and take this with you wherever you go, along with an organic build-your-own açaí bowl and coffee.

Ryan and his family are a rarity as they have invited not only an inner circle of friends but an entire community into their story. In my conversation with Ryan we talk about moving from the midwest to the emerald coast as well as making doughnuts to now serving fresh açaí that myself and so many friends are already going coconutty over!

Get excited for everyone’s new favorite hang out, Bear Fruit Bowls & Coffee.

    Extra Ice: Holy Week

    Extra Ice: Holy Week

Welcome to this season’s first Extra Ice 🧊... Every seventh episode of ‘Still With You’ we, as a community of friends, share an intentional time of rest and refreshment by being in the word of God together. This week is truly special as we observe Holy Week. The church calendar marks Holy Week as the seven days leading up to Easter Sunday. Every day we are invited by God to remember Christ’s triumphal entry, betrayal, trial, crucifixion, burial and celebrate his resurrection, not just during Holy Week.  However, this intentional  time marked annually by believers is an opportunity for unity as we seek God and share gratitude for the the gift of the the cross. I pray the words of scripture pierce our hearts and overwhelm us in how indescribable the LOVE of God is. He is always pouring out for us, always offering us rest in Him.

Episode 119: How to Heal Our Racial Divide with Dr. Derwin L. Gray

Episode 119: How to Heal Our Racial Divide with Dr. Derwin L. Gray

For the second week in a row we are hanging out with a friend from Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduating from Brigham Young University, Dr. Derwin L. Gray played professional football in the NFL for five years with the Indianapolis Colts (1993-1997) and one year with the Carolina Panthers (1998). Dr. Gray began his journey with God, experiencing His faithfulness as as Christ moved in his heart to make Him known.

Derwin earned a master of divinity degree with a concentration in apologetics from Southern Evangelical Seminary under the mentorship of the renowned theologian Dr. Norman Geisler. He also earned a doctor of ministry degree in the New Testament in context at Northern Seminary.

Dr. Derwin L. Gray is the cofounder and lead pastor of Transformation Church (TC), a multiethnic, multigenerational, mission-shaped church located in the Charlotte, metro region. He is a popular conference speaker and the author of Hero: Unleashing God’s Power in a Man’s Heart; Building a Multiethnic Church; The Good Life; God, Do You Hear Me?, Limitless Life, and his new book out TODAY, How to Heal Our Racial Divide: What the Bible Says, and the First Christians Knew, about Racial Reconciliation.

Like many of us, Dr. Gray is weary of the racial divide in our society. He longs to see hurts healed, wrongs corrected, and trust replace distrust.

The good news is that the Bible has a lot to say about how to heal our persistent racial divides. In How to Heal Our Racial Divide, Dr. Gray walks us through Scripture, showing us the heart of God—how God from the beginning envisioned a reconciled multiethnic family in loving community, reflecting his beauty and healing presence in the world. This message is central to the gospel itself.

Cover to cover, I could not put this book down. After picking up How to Heal Our Racial Divide, you won’t read the Bible the same way ever again. You will hear me admit this more than a few times in this conversation with Dr. Gray! There is so much to learn from this eye-opening scriptural journey when we as God's people turn from being color blind and embrace being color blessed.
