We live as if there are countless days ahead. We fail to seize the moment and grab the opportunities to enjoy life to the fullest — do the things that make our hearts smile, dance like no one is watching, or express how we really feel. It always seems that we will be able to do that ‘later’, when the only thing we have is now. There is so much power in this moment. Stop Waiting 4 Friday is a travel + lifestyle podcast featuring Akia Merritt, a 27 year old gypsie at heart who lives a life of adventure or insanity depending on who you ask! Quitting her corporate job, twice, multiple failed business ventures; designer, business coach, amateur sugar baby, to name a few, traveling the world solo to almost 30 countries, and moving almost 10,000 miles away from the US to live a dream life abroad! She’s started life over many times and she is unapologetic about it! Here's to failure, traveling the world, love, trauma, and growth. Here’s to not waiting for Friday to live your life! Get in! We're going on a crazy ride called life! Been there before?

I don’t know what I am doing with my life …

I don’t know what I am doing with my life …

Hey my loves! It’s been a while! Bare with me as I create these podcast episodes on God’s timing and not from my own personal will and agenda! My intention is to only share what I feel deeply in my heart so, HERE WE GO!

Ugh, this is such a raw and transparent episode because it’s happening in REAL TIME which makes it even more juicy! Let’s get into what I’d like to call, “The Gift of Not Knowing A Damn Thing” haha!

I would love to hear from you all and if you have ever been in this season and how you journeyed through!

Sad in paradise: my journey of dealing with anger and sadness

Sad in paradise: my journey of dealing with anger and sadness

Hey my loves! Okay, so imagine being in an absolute paradise and still experiencing deep sadness and anger and being so confused because you believed that being on vacation, having more money, finding love, etc was the answer to happiness!

Let’s chit chat about my experience on dealing with tough emotions and how I find peace within no matter where I am or what I have. It’s still a journey for me, but I feel content enough to share my story and the tools I use that help me!

I tried following the morning routine of Buddhist monks

I tried following the morning routine of Buddhist monks

For thousands of years monks have followed the same daily routine. Why? Why do they wake up at 4am? Honestly, why does anyone even wake up earlier than 9am? How important is a daily routine and do we actually even need one to begin with? I followed some advice from the morning routine of Buddhist monks and here is what happened!

This African tradition helped me to stop gossiping and judging

This African tradition helped me to stop gossiping and judging

Let’s be real, most of us have spent a lot of our time gossiping or discussing our likes and dislikes of others. But why? What makes us judge others and how do we stop it?

During my time in Tanzania, in a little village called Makunduchi I remembered the knowingness of non-judgement and perspective.

May we grant others the compassion to express their perspectives with non-judgement. May we be able to accept each other. May we be able to see from each others perspectives. May we be able to acknowledge that our own perspectives are only ours.

Why I gave up on family and friends in the US and moved to Indonesia

Why I gave up on family and friends in the US and moved to Indonesia

My relationships with my friends and family feel stronger than they ever have in my life despite being thousands of miles away from home. I’ve learned that giving up and letting go was the foundation for much deeper connections with those I love.
