Here Anish narrates the story of an old lady who had a bird in the cage and who never took any care of the bird nor fed it properly but was only interested in making the cage more beautiful. Consequently the bird dies and the old lady is shocked. The analogy drawn here is that we are all spirit souls trapped in the cage of a material body. We go to great lengths to take care of our external bodies but forget to feed the soul which is internal and who we truly are. As a result of which day by day we are becoming emotionally and mentally weak and ill equipped to handle stressful situations in life. Hence we must turn to scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita and chant the holy names of the Lord.
