    Joy: Where the Love Light Gleams In this Advent message, we reflect on joy—not as something easily felt, but as a hope that carries us through hardship. Looking at Luke 2 and Matthew 2, we explore the announcement of Jesus’ birth alongside the real challenges surrounding the nativity: fear, displacement, and uncertainty. Through the imagery of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and the tradition of the love light in the window, this sermon reminds us that joy is often promised before it is experienced. The joy announced by the angels sustained Mary, Joseph, and ultimately Jesus Himself, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him. This message is for anyone who feels lonely, worn down, or waiting this Christmas.
