The boss of the New South Wales Rugby League gave an update on the Canterbury Cup, Ron Massey Cup, junior footy and regional footy

North Rocks soccer club is one of the biggest in the Hills Association who were kind enough to give us their playing kit. They are taking a strong stance on respecting referees. This is because the game, particularly at a community sport level, is losing them because they are receiving abuse. These referees are often quite young and maturing, so this abuse can have a negative effect on their mental health.

North Rocks also shared a piece of their club history with us, donating their 20-year anniversary book from back in 1985.

Bob Turner is one of the greatest NBL coaches in history and as the General Manager of the WSWBA he wants to use his experience to usher in the next generation of coaches. Bob has donated a free 10-week training program to one of the 'My Local Sports Bag' recipients to save them costs on lessons but also to give his young coaches more exposure at a younger age. Bob feels other associations are currently too skewed to competitions rather than coaching so he wants to breed young coaches so they can develop leadership skills at a younger age and guide their communities.

Winston Hills is one of the largest soccer clubs in the Hills Association. They are one of the leaders in general equality, particularly women's football, where they are launching their third women's over 35s team. The team, and President Rod Carra are not focused on winning but introducing women to different cultures in their communities. This was the most generous club so far - listen to the amount of goods they provided.

Club volunteer coordinator Emma' Broomfield's club has been growing over the years, so she is asking a particular age group to join for a very different reason. Holroyd is looking for kids aged between 15-18 because they are undergoing big changes in their lives and dealing with the social pressures of higher studies, planning their future careers and fitting in with other adolescents. Netball, and sport in general, is a great outlet during this time and women's adolescent mental health isn't an area well covered.

Club secretary Steve Warwick spoke about the large African population in Blacktown and how he uses rugby league to get community members off the streets and out of trouble. He tells an emotional story of how a parent practically begs him to take his son which makes Steve proud of the work he is doing as a volunteer (great radio).
