One of my favorite podcasts

For some reason I enjoy listening to film critics discussing their background. I guess it’s a relatable topic for me, but they always bring up fascinating and obscure films that add to my ever growing watchlist. I’ve listened to every episode and I think the Kier-La Janisse and Joseph Ziemba interviews are my favorites.

Love it!

This show provides a vital document of DIY film-response culture. Each episode is meticulously researched, warm and engaging, and comprehensive. Also, the age range of the guests helps show how the environment of film writing, for example, has changed since the 1960s.
Taken as a whole, it feels like an inspiring oral history. Where else will you hear from Molly Haskell one week and The Rialto Report the next, followed by Alan Jones? Thank you Bill. You deserve twelve assistants.

Best guests ever?

Not sure what took me so long to tune into Supporting Characters, but now I feel like a dunce that it did. I'm properly gobsmacked by the guest list and cannot wait to run through all the episodes I've missed.
