Customer Reviews
Real. Uplifting. Inspiring.
I love that Kim and Kara are real about life. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns and they never portray it that way, instead they get into the messy hard truth about being a survivor of horrific crimes, and the messy truth of just life; no one is perfect and they don’t pretend to be either.
They empower other survivors in their healing. And most of all inspire change. They teach everyday people how to show support and foster a safe environment when someone discloses trauma. They teach those who consume true crime about ethical true crime. I definitely had no idea what that was before this podcast but it’s certainly impacted the true crime I decide to consume now.
There’s a shift in the true crime world
These hosts are promoting a shift from true crime content taking advantage of stories that don’t belong to the presenters into a reclamation of survivors’ power over their own stories. Kim and Kara tell their own stories and provide a platform for survivors and families of victims to tell their own stories. I, for one, have had enough of sensationalized narratives being blasted on full volume without regard for victims or survivors because “it’s in the public record so it’s fair game.” Not so here. You’ll hear real people sharing relatable, day-to-day life as well as the ways survivors have overcome or are in process of healing from trauma many of us average people can hardly imagine.
Insufferable Karen’s
This is just embarrassing.
