2023 was a dramatic year for me. It began with the death of my father on January 7th, and was followed shortly afterwards with the loss of my pregnancy in the second trimester. These events cast a deep dark shadow over the first half of the year. Mary Dyer, is a name now synonymous with religious freedom and the price of sticking to your conscience, was a Quaker woman who, in the face of oppression, stood up against the theocratic regime of the Massachusetts Bay Colony with terrible consequences.
